Hey Guys,

im debating on getting custom wheels for my 2011 Raptor....Nothing crazy

The stock rims on 17 x 8.5 and i want to buy 17 x 9.

Do I need to worry about going 1/2" wider. Do i have to worry about get a mid perch adjustment.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks
Shane

I think backspacing and offset are going to be the things to focus on even more than the slight increase in width of the wheel.

Stock wheels are 17 x 8.5 with 34mm offset and 6.08" backspacing and 3.41" front spacing. This allows the wheels to "tuck" into the fenders on full compression of suspension.

There is a thread in the Wheels & Tires Forum that explains offset if you don't understand it completely. http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f25/wheel-offsets-explained-19376/

Most aftermarket wheels you will find are 0 offset or 18mm offset which effectively moves the wheel out from the hub. The further away from stock parameters you get...the greater the risk of damaging fenders when your suspension compresses.

I have personally been doing a lot of research and have found the set of wheels that suits my needs because they are offered in 6'" back spacing...which is as close to stock as I could find in an aftermarket bead lock style wheel. This should help me avoid chewing things up when the suspension compresses fully with a 35" tire.

Just keep that in mind.

That is the correct base SKU # for the 72 Series but you also need to choose for the following options:

Bolt pattern. (Stock Raptors are 6 x 135mm)

Back spacing: between 5" to 6" (in 1/4" increments)

Ring finish and width.

Wheel finish.

The 72 Series Street Lock is D.O.T. approved.

Good luck.

Here's a pic of them in black / black finish...I think they are the shizzle...
