Buy truck.

Take truck and put in 2nd gear. Run to redline, coast to stop.

Run to redline again, coast to stop.

Run to redline again, coast to stop.

Valves are seated. Drive it like you stole it!

My dealer recommended no cruise control for the first 500 miles and no towing for the first 1,000. That was it.
Not saying dealers always know their stuff, but that was their answer.

This is exactly what I've learned as an engine builder. The 1000 miles is a learning curve for the computer and trans,.the 500 is for seating of engine components and you should fluctuate throttle and speed.

Suggestions for break in?

So I don't have a raptor yet but once I finally get mine I'm going to need to drive it from Tn. to Ca. Just wondering on what the thoughts are on breaking the engine in before I make this drive. The only thing I really remember is that you aren't supposed to drive at a constant speed for long distances. Does that statement still hold true?

Look for the owners guide for the year you are buying, within the first few pages will have the recommended break in.
