What would you do? Low MPG on new to me Gen 2.

Ok party people. Just finished a full tank on the new plugs. 80% highway and super light-footed driving. 13 mpg.
Warranty is up in March so gonna bring it in for engine check.
I totally understand this is a performance truck and I definitely did not buy it for the MPGs, but based on a lot of input here and others' reported MPG something doesn't seem right. I am not confident the dealer will find anything, but worth shot. Before I start in on intercooler, tunes, etc I want to get a good baseline established.

when you say “highway” are you talking, lame, east coast highways, or way out west or Texas highways? There’s like a 20-25mph difference. In TX, 75-80 on the highway is not uncommon, and the Austin toll road is --signed-- at 85.

At 70 and up, unless you’re on pretty flat ground, close to sea level, 14-14.5 at 70-75 isn’t horrible. I did manage more on I10 west once, when I moved. I ran 37f/36r hauling about 800-ish pounds and got 17.2mpg. There was a solid hour of 90mph just before Beaumont.

and if you keep it at 60-65, all highway, 18 is possible.

but if you’re climbing mountains or at elevation, yeah 13 can happen.

Good points. I am talking mostly flat 70 - 75 mph at 1500 ft elevation or lower. In hindsight I should have stayed closer to 65.

@downforce137 and @nikhsub1 Are those numbers running everything stock?

My goal is to make sure I have everything healthy before I start with the tuning. I think I might have some PTSD from a previous tuning disaster on my 6.0.

no not really.. but even when it was stock i dont remember getting better than 13mpg..

coming from a gen1,i figured at least highway would be a bit better, but at 75mph, its making a few psi of boost...

6 months of averages at 40psi in the flattest state in the US. (Florida). All highway testing on i10 and i65. Mpg/mph. Hope this helps. My tune actually gave me about 1.2 avg BETTER mpg. All this driving was done with a large duffle and a weapons case so the truck was relatively empty.

21.7 at 55
17.2 at 70
16.8 at 72
16.1 at 75
15.3 at 80
13.8 at 85
12.0 at 90

I consistently get 13,2 to 14,4 in the city.

It is what it is. I have the feeling you think you should some how get better MPG than the rest of us. A regular F150 ecoboost can get mid 20's pretty easy, I would say a 2wd can push almost 30.

But Raptor has 4:10 gears, and 315/70R17 tires, among a few other things that hurt MPG a ton.

This whole thread is somewhat pointless, like having a GT500 and expecting 30mpg.
Let's say you do a FMIC and Tune, and gain 1.5 mpg. It will take you approximately 7 years to recoup your investment on the FICM and tune (this is regarding do the MODs for MPG only).
