I shit you not, I was taking my son to San Antonio this morning and saw something identical to this in the middle of my lane on I35. It was deteriorated HVAC ducting with more of the covering still hanging on. Same as what you posted but probably 8" diameter coils.
I bet yours came out of one of those crushed cars they stack up on flatbeds headed to the recycler.

Yeah, definitely road debris. I was under there for a while today installing Core Trax on the bed floor. I was also under there before when I installed the back up lights. There is no way this came from the truck. There's nothing remotely like it under there.
