Changed at 1561.3 Miles . Mobil 1 5W-20 Extended Performance. Filter Fram Extra Guard Filter.

I did not remove the skid plate. I was prepared to fab a drain ramp out of thin plastic if needed. Ford has a drain ramp built in to the 6.2L and it works perfectly . You have to just back the filter off until you get a very slow flow. I did not spill or splash oil at all using the stock drain ramp and the normal access point.

I will change my oil twice a year regardless of mileage do to winter / seasonal change over.

I will probably do my next change at 4000 to 5000 miles . After that I will have to see . The 6.2L has 7 Qts of oil . This is a significant amount of oil that should extend it's ability to absorb byproducts of the combustion process. Oil does not necessarily wear out , it just get's to a point that it can't absorb any more contaminates. The exception to this particularly with Dinosaur oil is if it's temperature tolerance is exceeded (hot) it will break down . become acidic , burn and create sludge.

This is what I beleaive and if you have different opioun I always welcome learning new things.

Look up white papers on oil through Google and you can learn allot fast.

Just did my first oil change on Sunday at 1303 miles. Used Motorcraft 5w-20 blend and Mobil filter. Took the skid plate off due to advice on here plus I wanted to see what was under it. Thinking of mounting a front receiver hitch on the truck and wanted to get an idea of placement under the skid plate.

Just did mine yesterday @ 4,200. I blew through a 2,200 mile trip on the original oil and figured she is good and done ready for new stuff. Switching to Full Synthetic @ 10,000.

I've never kept a vehicle longer than 2-3 years, ever... but, I've always subscribed to the "drive it like you stole it" break-in philosophy.:peace:

100 miles ??? lol

If your changing it before 3000 all your doing is wasting time and money but hey, its your time and your money. Unless you literally beat the shit out of your truck its completely fine wait till 5000.

Ford recommends oil and tire rotation every 5000.

+1... I ran Full Synthetic through my Avalanche, and it's oil change sensor ran out about every 8000 miles. Not once changed it before and had 0 problems.

I'm breaking mine in hard, as the Thoroughbred she is... at 1300 miles and no temperamental issues, very consistent drive...
