I changed the factory fill @ 1100 miles.

Went to Mobil 1 0w-20 Synthetic.

On my second oil change now and using Pennzoil Ultra 5w-20.

Both oil changes with FL-820S filters.

Draining and refilling the X-fer case and both diffs this weekend.

So when did you all change your oil for the first time? After so many months or miles? How did your oil look? Did you do anything else other than just an oil change?

Every 3000 miles or before any long drive. (my trucks get put on monthly 1000-3000 mile road trips) I drive my vehicles hard would rather be over cautious then not enough. My track and race cars get full fluid changes before every event/race. I also have a 4 post lift with the rolling jacks in my shop so doing everything is easy. At the first 1000 miles I will change every fluid in the vehicle. With the Raptor I will also install the stainless steel brake lines and put in Super Dot 4 brake fluid. When I take it out to the desert and beat on it like a red headed stepchild, I will have distilled water and Water Wetter in the radiator. Probably going to end up building a cage for it too with harnesses.

800 miles

I had the dealer change mine at 800 miles/3 months. They did not spill a drop on mine, I checked and it was clean they must have pulled the skid plate.

But if I put it into first gear (without touching the accelerator) after I let it warm up for a minute, hold the hell on! It will idle/drive around at 30mph, lol. There's no sense or consistency to it's madness. Apparently, it's not a morning person.

HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! that is the best comment I have heard! A truck with it's own attitude. Love it. Great write up.

I changed oil and filter the first time after a ginger 750 mile break in period where I worked on training my tranny and keeping the RPM's in check. I also did an oil flush prior to loading it up with fresh synthetic in case there were any metal shavings lurking in the netherregions of my engine.

Hey Bo...how much oil did you run through to do the flush?

I changed my own for the first change. I did it at about 2,000 miles. Oil and Filter. Removed skid plate as well, instead of the stupid door-thing.

I alternate every other oil change to the dealer so they can check things and I have paperwork showing that it has been changed. I keep all my paperwork for everything in plastic document protectors in a three-ring binder for resale possibilities. Or, just for my reading enjoyment when I'm drinking beer.

I rotate my tires every other oil change, but I change the oil every 3-4k.

2500 miles dealer included it in the purchase.. (im sure I paid for it) then at 7500..

it seems that if you buy the maintenance plan its 5000 miles between oil changes. If you do it yourself auto manufactures recommend 3000. do you think their in cahoots with the the oil guys?

The 3,000 mile interval is a throwback to the days of single viscosity dino juice. After the first oil change, if you're using full synthetic a 6,000 mile interval between oil changes would be fine. Some manufacturers allow as much as 7,500 miles. If using non-synthetic multi-viscosity oil, 5,000 mile intervals seems right. (But who would use non-synthetic oil in a Raptor?)
