so how would i go about compressing the shock to slide in a new bolt and nut? i have the parts already, bought them from ford, just want to fix it enough so i can drive it to another dealership willing to service it sooner. seems weird bc of the additional tube and the head...idk if a regular shock compression tool would fit the shock body? only thing i can think of is driving the rear whell on something high to compress the wheel into the well and thus the shock is compressed then strapping it with a ratchet strap and switching out bolts? idk

A bolt on my end link flung off while my salesman was filling it up with gas for me. The link bounced off the brake shield but that's all the damage it caused. I had them throw a bolt on it so I can take it home and I had the damaged shield and endlink replaced by another dealer.

These guys can't even do their job correctly and yet want a pay raise.

Why not jack the truck up? Less to compress if at all needed.

i did, i jacked it up as high as the jack would go, even stacked some 2x4s and that shock kept extending like it was on ******. maybe i need a bigger jack?
No. Remove the shock at the lower mount, then you can fix the upper mount bolt. Then you can reattach the lower section.
