Can you clarify what you mean by "the gen 2 setup will not work with gen 3 at all"?

From what I understand Alcon has updated the calipers and brackets to this new style, but they still work for Gen 2 as shown by wvmountaineer87 earlier in this thread

The new style calipers and brackets are for the gen 3, full stop. They are not compatible with the gen 2 nor is the gen 2 setup compatible with the gen 3. This isn’t hard to understand.

So to put this to rest, I contacted Alcon and the 'new style brackets' only work with the new calipers that are for Gen 3. There are no new backets for gen 2, period. Also, the gen 2 setup will not work with gen 3 at all.

The Roush calipers some have recently purchased use the new bracket. I know this because I was sent the new style calipers and brackets and they do fit the truck (2018) I just wanted to help the guys that received kits that only contain rotors and calipers. If they buy the old bracket it will not work.
If your kit is already on your truck and you are only here to play “I win” that doesn’t help these guys out much does it?

No man this is what alcon told me. The pic on the left is gen 2 the pic on the right is for the gen 3. From what Alcon told me they are not interchangeable.

Right but what Alcon is telling you is wrong.. wvmountaineer87 is running the so called "gen 3" on his gen 2

They seem to go in and out of stock. I bought my set for $999 without brackets which are another ~$250 on alconkits.com (but aren't currently in stock). wvmountaineer87 posted his item number in this thread earlier that came with brackets for ~1250 but they were out of stock when I purchased mine

Nice bro, those are my first choice when my KO2's die. Can't wait to see it when you get it back and your thoughts are on them when we hit the trail. Probably going to feel like a complete different truck.
