nope. I'm turning kevin loose on it. we've been brainstorming theme ideas for almost a year. It'll be one of those wild ones that make him notorious. :cool:

My deavers came with a new bolt and I was advised to cut the stock bolt out. But the new bolt is installed on the opposite side so it can be removed. If you want to save the bolt you could remove the frame mounted part of the shackle and maybe drop the leaf down.

dude, the bolt that you cut is the FRONT bolt on the driver's side so that you dont have to drop the gas tank.

You shouldnt be cutting any of the rear bolts for the shackle.

Installed a Kenwood TK 790H 110 watt radio in the center console. It would not fit, so I had to cut some of the heat sink from the rear of the unit. This project actually took a couple weeks. The radio would not sit on the floor of the console, so I had to make a spacer. I had to remove the center console to bolt everything in. I also put the head unit inside as well as a little something extra.

Right now it is sitting in my garage with no front bodywork and all of the accessory wiring cut and hanging.

I'm in the midst of rewiring the entire truck.

Once I'm done with the rewire (converting to all Switchpros), Then I'll fit the new front glass that I've been staring at for 4 months, do a little fiberglass work on the bedsides, and replace the passenger doors.

After that it needs a new headgasket.

Then it will get wrapped.

Then i'll drag it out to cali to have the cage and tin work done.

The rest of the stuff that I need to do is maintenance and/or fixing broken stuff. ( like the lower steering shaft, removing, sanding and repainting different parts, replacing hardware, etc etc. I need to get the truck back to the shop to have the guys change a few things too).

I've been hammering on the truck for a couple of years now and its time to tear her down a bit and make her pretty again.

Probably won't see any prolific pics as shell be in pieces for a couple of months.

What caused the head gasket to go on your truck? i was following your build thread for a while and remembered you not wanting to mess with a tune, did it have anything to do with the COBB? ive been sketching myself out reading about peoples experiences with the tune and been considering removing it from the truck

I had swapped the overflow tank to an aluminum tank from mishimoto. Last summer, heading into Bay of L.A., the ambient was 128 degrees. One of the hoses popped off the overflow tank ( because it is a crap design), All of the coolant squirted out of the cooling system within 50 yards. ECT hit north of 265 degrees and truck went into thermal shut down.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the ability to sit there for 8 hours until it cooled down naturally, so I had to dump cooler water into the overflow and radiator after reattaching the overflow hose.

Since then the head gasket has been failing slowly and I've put the factory overflow tank back on. ( and smashed the Mishimoto tank with a BFH.)

I was going to do a V8 swap, but no one will sell me the parts to make it easy. All of the companies that do V8 swaps will only sell the parts installed. Therefore, I'm going to do the head gasket, make a few other motor changes for reliability, then have it professionally tuned. I may revisit the V8 swap in the future once it becomes more DIY friendly.

I haven't re-loaded the cobb tune or trans programming since the truck began consuming coolant as to not compound the issue.

If it were me or if you plan to use your truck as I do, I'd recommend getting the truck tuned by a pro. Id also opt to retain the octane adjustment feature, as it would be a real pain to constantly reload tunes based on what octane the fuel is that you come across in remote parts of Baja.

Wow thats crazy, pretty ridiculous that no one is offering the kits for the v8 swap too. Good to know on the tune, my truck is my daily and in warranty so reliability is definitely going to be my biggest concern.
