nah man, its easy if they are assembled.. just have to smash the spring enough to turn the perch.. no exploding springs going to happen in this situation...

taking them apart and dealing with a spring thats under tension is intense unless youre using a wall mounted compressor..
Yeah, it was definitely intense, I'll give another go when I get back in town a couple months from now
Thanks brother

the ends come off the coil.. maybe thats it? i dont remember the backwards coil install but its been 2 years ago..

you can compress the springs on the truck, which is the method ive used on mine and several trucks ive worked on, and i think its a lot easier than removing the coilover..

Disconnect sway bar.
Install spring compressor
Jack up lca.
Tighten spring compressor
Lower the lca jack
Adjust collar
Jack up lca
Remove spring compressor..

i use this style, and pay attention to the marked areas because a casting bump made contact with the threads on the coilover so i buzzed them off with a bench grinder..

The instructions call it a "live valve coil" and that is what it is, it isn't actually a solenoid.

The pictures show it on backwards with the wiring facing the shock/rear of vehicle, next step is install the cover/shield over the coil. Yet it will not fit if the coil is installed per the picture.

Small details like this matter to me and when a company cannot edit their instructions to be correct then I start to question alot of other things about that company. I would rather no instructions and note inside the box that said "figure it out".

Hey Jeepguy, what was it that you didn't like about the feel ?

Dude i HATE the feeling of preload. Ever since I used to mess around with the mono shock on my motorcycle and front suspension to get more ground clearance i quickly figured out what was going on with angles and shock travel.

In short too much preload gives this twitchy feel and stiffness to the ride. Sort of bouncy nervous feel

2” + of lift on a raptor with stock lowers uppers etc its pretty obvious to me that it starts getting a little more bump twitchy , theres more leverage on the steering rack so the truck starts wandering with the crown on the road.

Im obsessed with handling and suspension feel so ymmv. And the feel im talking about is somewhat minor in regards to the raptor . I think it compensates pretty well and is doable .

But once you see the angles on the lca get past a certain point small bumps will start to feel a lot more harsh.

mine came from autozone but looks exactly like this kit..

note the remarks about the casting flash that made contact with my threads on shock body..

grind those off and it takes a little patience and setup, but works good for me..

id say after the truck is up on jackstands, maybe 15 min per side to make adjustments..

If they arent installed on the truck yet, a wall mounted compressor might be easier, but if they are on the truck, this is way easier

same concept:

Jarrod from RPG... LOL
I found these this morning . Looks like it wont damage any finish on the springs. https://a.co/d/3l7rjTN
