What did you do to your Raptor today? (Gen2)

Mine were pre-loaded to that point… although I did spin the collars around half a turn so I could have access to the Allen bolt for future adjustments. Probably would be ~stock height if I spun those collars all the way to the top of the threads.

From what I’d read I’d expected a 2” lift but only got 1”. I did notice that the springs are black on mine although pictures online show silver springs… not sure if Fox made a recent spring change ???

I’ll take a picture of mine this weekend. I also need more preload on mine and both sides the Allen bolt inside the bucket. May just have a shop do the preload. I couldn’t get the collar to move even with a spring compressor on and bolt loosened.

With 37s this netted me 42.5 at the front fender. I think about 1.5” lift. I had 2.25 icon collars on before and was at 43”. I would like to be back to that point or even 43.5 total

Dude did you adjust the preload prior to installing? Or did they come like that? I have 1” preload on mine and I don't like the feel. While its not bad I am going to reset to stock height and to me it looks like you zero’d out the collar to get stock height. I called fox yesterday and they wouldn't confirm zeroing the collar would yield stock height.

mine came with no preload and are stock height up front

The whole fox 3.0 instructions are some what bull- sh--it!!
I am not sure Fox knows WTF.
As per quote here, the instructions say, they are pre-set for an 2" lift. Oh but wait there is more...... later in the instructions it says that prior to install measurements should have been taken to verify 2" lift and if said lift was not achieved then adjust preload. Which required spring compression.

When I installed mine i did not get much if any lift. I need to remove them.and adjust but geeze that is some work.

The instructions should say that they come set for stock ride height and to achieve lift spring preload should be adjusted!!!!!!!

Also the instructions tell you to install the live valve coil (not actually a solenoid) backwards, which won't actually affect operation (DC magnet) but the cover they provide will not fit if the coil is installed per the printed instructions.

the ends come off the coil.. maybe thats it? i dont remember the backwards coil install but its been 2 years ago..

you can compress the springs on the truck, which is the method ive used on mine and several trucks ive worked on, and i think its a lot easier than removing the coilover..

Disconnect sway bar.
Install spring compressor
Jack up lca.
Tighten spring compressor
Lower the lca jack
Adjust collar
Jack up lca
Remove spring compressor..

i use this style, and pay attention to the marked areas because a casting bump made contact with the threads on the coilover so i buzzed them off with a bench grinder..

Hey downforce, can you provide anymore information about the spring compressors that you used ? I haven't installed my 3.0 because of concern about trying to get the height adjustment right.

mine came from autozone but looks exactly like this kit..

note the remarks about the casting flash that made contact with my threads on shock body..

grind those off and it takes a little patience and setup, but works good for me..

id say after the truck is up on jackstands, maybe 15 min per side to make adjustments..

If they arent installed on the truck yet, a wall mounted compressor might be easier, but if they are on the truck, this is way easier

I haven't installed the shocks on my truck yet.
I disassembled them with a set of spring compressors that I had gotten online so that I could color match the springs to the truck and I felt a bit uncomfortable, to say the least, using the compressor I have. The shocks are back together, but I've been concerned about making the height adjustment, they have been in the box since.
Hopefully this will give me the motivation to get going on it again.

nah man, its easy if they are assembled.. just have to smash the spring enough to turn the perch.. no exploding springs going to happen in this situation...

taking them apart and dealing with a spring thats under tension is intense unless youre using a wall mounted compressor..
