Finally had a nice afternoon and warm enough so that my hose didn't have ice in it. :) Pulled out the pressure washer and foam cannon for the first time this year. Forgot to take a before shot but you couldn't tell what color it was because we were up in the mountains about 11k ft in the snow over the weekend. 20230313_161325.jpg

Got my Husky liners installed and the BuiltRight rear seat release. Dropped it off today for PPF and Modesta ceramic coating.

Has anyone added the Cobb coolant reservoir cover? I have one leftover from my Gen2 but when I tried to install it I didn't feel like it sat back as far as it needed to. Once I loosened the bolts and slid the cover on it only went halfway or less in the slot before it was on far enough. It seemed like it stuck out toward the front of the truck a little farther, if that makes sense.

Added some Front Runner load bars (26lbs) to my 2023 for my IKamper Mini 3 RTT when needed. This set up does require drilling holes. These bars measure 8" above the bed allowing nice space for lightweight bins of gear if needed. This keeps the RTT below the cab and is at the very minimum height for adding a lightweight awning to sit under. Plus I kinda like the way they look.

I learned a lot trying to overland my last Gen 2 truck. I added so much damn weight I had to swap out my rear leafs with +4 deavers which did the trick but really stiffened up the truck. I added all sorts of trash that I never used LOL. I did Stupid heavy Decked System, ADD overland rack, Roofnest Condor Overland RTT and absurd 20 gallon, 12 gallon water systems...Like who needs 20 gallons/150 lbs of water when you drive by a gas station once every 3- days?

This new 2023 truck is a compilation of everything I learned not to do to a Raptor. Keep it clean and be obsessive over minimizing weight. Im on the road about two months of the year to mostly desert areas in the SW so Im all about a Roof top tent. These 26lbs load bars can easily be shifted and be removed when not needed. BTW, theres only one Hard Top, light weight Rooftop tent I would recommend for a Raptor, the 120lb IKamper Mini 2 or 3. Ive tried multiple tents over the years and this one is my favorite, pricy but worth it..comfortably fits two, made in South Korea and not China. Im headed out for two weeks in early April so I should have a good idea about how they hold up. Ive had good luck with Front Runner for the most part so Im not too worried.
Thanks for the info, I have been curious about Raptor overlanders, and this has always been my concern. Overloading takes away the whole reason to own a Raptor, and towing doesnt make much sense either. Curious on the roof tent craze. Adding a couple hundred pounds (between the racks and tent setup). What is the percieved advantage over 30 lbs of gear needed for a conventional tent and bedding? Safety, comfort, convenience? Im struggling to see how that extra weight solves any of that.

I have the coolant cover installed but I also have the Cobb radiator shroud if that makes a difference.

Do you have a pic from the other side/angle? When I put mine on, it was a good 0.5" or more further out from where yours is and was already rubbing on that hose in the back left side of the reservoir.

I'll have to look at it again when I get the truck back from PPF and ceramic coating.

I’ll get a pic from the other side for you when I get off work!

Great question, hard to explain. Hope this makes sense. First off the RTT craze should not be for Raptors owners. Only at minimal weight.

I prefer always being on the move. I do Long trips in Utah or AZ desert..some Colorado mountains.

The word "Overlanding" likely has a negative "narrative" to a Raptor owner that understands why they own a Raptor...for the ride right? Add weight negates ride. My point above is theres no need for all that heavy shit attached to our trucks to be on the road for weeks. Stop spending money on unnecessary gear that weighs it down and negates the ride.

Ive chosen the roof top tent as my one selected item to weigh my truck down by 120lbs. ...the weight of person. The IKamper mini 2 or 3 tent is just my researched best option for the best Hard Topped, Raptor friendly tent for those that want a lightweight RTT that won't change the ride of the Gen 3 Raptor truck. This tent, goes up in one minute, and down in 3-4 minutes and its really comfy. Raised, above the dirt has its advantages as well especially when it rains or for critters. Its a place I can go to take a shaded nap when needed, or when I get home after dark and Im ready for a beer & starving, I can just unclip and its up. Building ground tents, footprints, blowing mattresses takes too much time and effort for my kind of trip.

Thats why im excited about minimal 26lb load bars in my post...LOL! On my last Gen 2 I crushed it with a Addictive Desert Designs ADD overland rack at 105 lbs plus a 165 LB Roofnest Overland Condor. add in bins of gear, water...etc...ouch...The hwy ride was super weird, sometimes unstable with a full tank of gas. Ended up trading out stock leafs with deaver 4+'s. Changed the ride for sure but kept the ass up from sagging.
