It’s actually made for the f150 platform, it’s the cooler they use overseas (Saudi Arabia) for the higher temp areas. It’s available here in the US though as long as you have a correct part number.

Another continued COVid19 sheltering in place saga to further enhance the Jenny Big Hipped Beast!

After hours of researching and asking questions, I finally chose the Mobile Rig that, in my case and application will be most useful and not needing to upgrade later; (ICOM ID-5100A). Also, the installation was to be as OEM with little or no cutting / drilling into any visible areas. Also wanted it to be out of sight and protected when not in use. I pondered many ways to install and placement, and ultimately screwed/bolted the main radio to the lockerUp console unit. I did screw the magnetic plate to the headliner bump as many have done for the head unit. Its not the most visible as you drive location, but you shouldn’t take your eyes off the road anyway. I ran all the rig’s cables, wires through the console and behind the dash. I found a grommet on the firewall behind the glove box that was prefect for the power supply lines straight to the battery. (Still working on that, bc I’m getting a little engine noise on the air RX air channels even thought I read most said that to connect directly to the battery should limit engine/alternator noise?) I added an older Ericsson 4 ohms 20watt speaker I had with my CB rig previously. I hid & zipped tied it to a dash/console support. Solid and doesn’t move. The antenna (Diamond NR770HNMO)2m/70cm Dual a and) I debated where and how I was going to mount it? I ended up getting a Diamond K400SNMO trunk/hatchback mount that I attached to my Thule bed rack with ss hose brackets. Solid mounting and semipermanent. Also, note that the antenna itself breaks over and lays down as needed. I ran the antenna cable down behind the corner to a grommet and into the cab and to the console/rig. So far I’m pleased and still playing and listening as I learn how to use the rig. Unfortunately! The ARRL dropped the ball with the COVid19 and closed the entire building so my test results and documentation is sitting there while I wait for them to figure out a way to go and process paperwork so the FCC (which was in operation when I checked last month) to assign me a Call SigN

Its the Sasco mine off I10 just northwest of Tucson. We did a 50 mile loop which takes you past an old Titan Missile bunker, a massive open copper mine and thru the Ironwood National Forest. The smelter was just bought by the Dept of Defense and we didnt find out until we were in between some plain clothes snipers and their targets. We were quickly kicked off the land haha
