I never go past a half tank. I feel better about filling it lol

I used to drain the tank and always need 34 gallons to fill, so I've seen $140 fill-ups (just bring you CC in the store so they can just turn on the pump instead of being cut-off at $100) But agree, now at 1/2 tank. You NEVER know when a disaster situation might strike and you need to bug out. No one wants to wait in long gas lines when you are trying to get out of town.

I usually fill up at 1/2 as well, but keep 10gal in the bed too.

Funny that you bring up the whole bug out thing. That's one of my main reasons but I didn't want to sound like a lunatic lol

I am starting to adopt this mentality more and more. My wife is away at our 2nd home 150 miles from home during the week for work for another year or two so I'm putting together a contingency plan.

While in town I don't want my Raptor to have less than half a tank so I always have enough gas to get 200 miles from home. I don't like keeping gas in our toybox gas tank but I now keep a reserve of 20 gallons and swap it every six months. I have some emergency gear at our main house but now I need to fill up the toybox and our other home.

This summer I will find dirt/back-roads from Santa Maria to Salinas so I can get up there if the main roads are closed as well.

It's sad that we have to adopt this way of thinking these days...

If we don't adapt we die, the Raptor makes it easier to adapt though. We can outrun people on roads they can't travel

All I can think about with all this talk is the show "The Walking Dead". Maybe I'm just a young whippersnapper...but I've never once thought about that scenario.
