Installed the Dee Zee tailgate assist shock. I threw away the stupid nutsert it comes with, removed the plastic tailgate panel and used an extended 10mm open wrench to secure a lock washer and nut on the ball-joint bolt. Used RED Loctite so the little f'er doesn't come undone. I'll let it sit for a whole day to dry and cure well before I open the tailgate. I'm hoping that little ball-joint bolt holds up. I'm no engineer, but that seems to be a lot of pressure on that single spot to hold up the entire tailgate weight. Haven't read of any failures though, so I should be OK.

The assist works awesome, just some insite, the assist shock should not be supporting the tailgate weight, the tailgate cables are there to still do there job, just make sure your tailgate was all the way down, so the deezee set up is in the right location.

I worked on the installation with the tailgate all the way down. It was being supported by the passenger-side support cable only. I installed the frame bracket with the existing torx bolt. There wasn't a lot of wiggle room there, so that's a fixed location. I installed the ball-joint bolt in the center of the tailgate hole sine the lock-washer made contact over the entire oval hole. I felt the center was the best place. I would think that the Dee Zee shock is sufficiently long to extend even if the ball-joint bolt is placed towards the outer edge of the oval hole. I can't see where the shock would be supporting any weight here, but I will double-check when I open the tailgate next. Thanks.

Today I ordered a new curved cree LED light bar ($165.00) for the upper grill install to go with my 40" lower grill light bar! Will post pics when it comes in and I get it installed.

Took her to the dealership for squealing brakes in the rear. They said my truck was driven with the parking brake on but they still deglazed my parking brake shoes and replaced both of my rear rotors under warranty. Win!
