I swapped out the four factory 3057K stop/tail bulbs for more modern 4057LL bulbs. Result is considerably brighter stop light and turn signal intensity and doubled the bulb life. The newer 4057LL design is also more vibration and heat resistant.

I also swapped out the factory front 3157NA turn/parking bulbs for the more modern 4157NA bulbs. Similar results as above, though maybe a bit less noticeable because these are natural amber in color.

Total cost of this one-beer project: $28.35 including sales tax.
No change in the function or appearance of the lights except brighter, and no hyperflash as you can get with LEDs. Cheaper than LEDs, too!
