Have you consider using a BlendMount? I have one.

Any thoughts on the gen 2? I was surprised that they removed the physical volume knob.

I have one but decided I like the radar above the mirror instead of below. However I don’t trust the suctions so I’ll re-engineer that later. Btw the matrix dots don’t affect the range...
You adapt to the knobless pretty quick, works good and definitely has a sleeker look.
Range and filtering is top notch

What's it like using the volume buttons? More tactile feel?

My mind is boggle that the new gen 2 is $500! If i were to trade in my previous gen V1, they will only give me in $110 credit. Say WHAT!?

They have a “clicky” kinda feel. Not high end nor cheesy just there. However I don’t find myself using them. You set the alert volume and the mute volume and that’s it. Tapping the power button will “mute” that particular alert.

Have you been using the ios or android app for the radar, yet? Any thoughts?

I downloaded the v1 app but haven’t used it, for me the radar itself works pretty good as I got it for longer highway trips where there don’t seem to be a lot of false alarms compared to city using.
There is one app, forget the name, that adds geo silencing to known falses which most say is worth the $ compared to the free official app
