But how do you remove the ford oval, is there a trick to it? Just muscle it?

Didn't, just wiped with alcohol and sprayed.

On the bottom you will see a small hole, stick a small screwdriver in it and it pops off, just be careful and do NOT muscle it. I put some blue painters tape on the screwdriver to protect the emblem. There is two screws exposed and you can remove the base if you want too. If you break it, its only around $100 to replace.
