Weird sound coming from underneeth!

I can't remember the vehicle emitting that sound before today... note that I removed and put back the grille to at an LED light bar.

Is that normal?

Did you mess up any of the shutters behind the grill? Definitely not normal.

Mine started doing that exact same thing one day out of the blue. I have not made any modifications to my truck yet. A few people on Facebook said it was normal. I am not convinced. The dealer was no help. I hear that sound the entire time my ignition is on.

Can you narrow down where it's coming from?

This is normal... they all do this. It's the waste gate actuators. Open your door and it will stop. Close it wait a bit and it will start again. It will do it up to 2 minutes sometimes. The grill shutters are more quiet. I have no clue why it has to do this. Some do it more often than others. Both brand new raptors on the dealer lot do this too.

Also, his motor isn't running so that cannot be the wastegate rattle.

He didn't say rattle though. Waste gates can make noises without rattling.

Also, aren't the waste gates on Raptors electric? Meaning they can actuate without the motor running?

It's excess vacuum built up in the engine after shutdown. What ever electric circuits read and control the electronics wastegate actuators are still functional and the system is attempting to reach some desired vacuum level. If you cycle the locks, or open the door this interrupts that electrical cycle and the noise should stop. You can also stay in your truck after shutdown wait for the noise and then press your brake pedal: it will stop.

This occurs not just on the new raptor but many boosted cars with electric actuators.

Ford use to fix this, but has since come out with a tsb for the powerstroke saying it's normal.

FYI, it is normal unless it continues for periods greater than like 2 mins. This indicates a bad actuator, it will also be apparent when driving as your wastegate will not be functioning correctly.
