2018 802A Raptor. We've had it 2 weeks now and love it. But starting to get a strange noise/slight vibration. It's very sporadic and it's hard to duplicate if I try to make it do it. It happens usually at slow speed under very slight throttle application. Kind of a growl and sometimes accompanied by a slight vibration. Tranny is usually in 3-4-5 range. Often happens after a sharp turn in a neighborhood when slowly accreting out of the turn. Tonight is started doing it at higher speeds going straight but much fainter - in the 8-9-10 gear range, and again under slight throttle.

Is this the symptom of the common 10-speed tranny hunting for the correct gear issue? Or something else? Thoughts?

Thanks.

Could not get it to duplicate in about an hour of driving. I tried Normal mode 2W, Normal 4A, Sport 2W and Sport 4A. Searching this I came across some references to the tranny "learning" a driving style. So i'm hoping it has learned and the weird noise goes away!

Search for IWE noise. It's a common problem with the Ford's 4WD system. You'll likely need to replace/upgrade your IWE check valve which is a 5 min fix. If the problem doesn't go away after that, the tech will likely evaluate the hubs and bearings. Many have had this issue and I'm going thru it now. Folks are seeing this issue pop up after 20K miles. I got to around 38K miles before those symptoms starting happening. Ford's 4WD system is a nice concept (vacuum based system) but poorly executed.

Changed out my IWE valve around 38k miles. Same noise your describing. Like Dustan, I keep another just in case. Not in my glovebox, but in my car with the spare tie rods ;)

Awesome! I googled IWE Valve Youtube videos and it sounds the same. Went to O'Reillys and they couldn't find it or even order one. So I'll be headed to the local Ford dealer in th morning to get one (maybe 2! LOL) and swap it out tomorrow.

Thanks!!
