Way to handle intercooler condensate buildup problems in 3.5 ecoboost

just buy the aFe gt intercooler if you worried about it. It has a drain hole. problem solved. just saying... weep hole case closed

3. There are no reports of condensation issues on the 2nd Gen Ecoboost

ok, I admit, practically everything OP has ever dumped on the gen 2 forums via this user id and the other ids used by this person, has been a gratuitous waste of electrons.

However, this reference to actual manufacturer data is something else.

I am drawn to one of the other linked documents, much later in time which says this:

Condensate may form in the CAC when the ambient air temperature decreases, or during humid or rainy weather conditions, where the intake air is cooled below the water dew point. Condensate may collect at the bottom of the CAC, or in the internal passages, and cooling turbulators. When torque is increased, such as during acceleration, increased mass air flow may strip the condensate from the CAC, drawing it into the engine and increasing the likelihood of engine misfire and combustion instability.

So, relevant to the discussion at hand, regardless of who posted it, the question becomes - is the 2017 and up Raptor susceptible to the conditions identified above? I’ll agree it’s not within evidence from anyone here on FRF, but, is it possible?

i think it is still possible in certain areas to have the condensation issue. ford must have thought so too since they did active shutters. i would say that on the 10speed truck it may be more likely due to the low rpm of 70-75 mph cruise. am i gonna overthink it or worry about it? no. i got a warranty lol. also i don't like or use cruise control. 2nd truck with the "possibility" and never an issue yet.

yeah, the thing I’m trying to pieced together is the variables. we’re nowhere close to ambient conditions either before or after the charge cooler, but I am a little intrigued by the data. note the dates on this one: https://www.google.com/patents/US20160061100 This would be in the era of the 2015 and later trucks - it’s 2014, but by that time, dev. on the ’15 and later models was in the final stages.
