I have a lot of issues with the build quality of these trucks for $70k. So what it’s based on a $25k truck? Are you really suggesting that I expect the build quality to be that of a truck that’s about 1/3 of the value?
It came off the same assembly line as the $25K trucks.

That is exactly what we are saying. The "build quality" will be down to the lowest common denominator, a regular cab F-150 work truck that you can buy for less than $25K after rebates. A poverty spec F-150work truck is certainly not going to be built up to a $70K MSRP level. This is true across the automotive landscape whenever a manufacturer develops a 'performance' model based on a volume product. Do you think an $80,000 BMW M3 has better "build quality" than a stripper 320i? It doesn't... How can you guys not see this? I think too many Raptor owners have no real experience in this realm to base their expectations on. They just know that instead of the MSRP being $55K and the manufacturer offering a $12,000 rebate and the dealer discounting to dead invoice, they suddenly have to pay full sticker for a pricey truck. You guys are expecting too much.

Oh, and don't take our word for it. Go peruse the lot at your local Ford dealer and compare them for yourself. Ford itself is telling you that you are expecting too much. Y'all don't want to even think about what the MSRP would be if Ford were to somehow build Raptors on a separate line with great attention to detail.

OK guys enough! We all have an iconic vehicle which we all bought because we wanted the best truck manufactured in this great land of ours. Now that you have it, moded it your way from head to tail, driven it everywhere you wanted to take it, and your still grinning each and every time you get in it especially each time someone out there tells you “nice truck “ I wish Icould own one! Now you want to down it for any minor detail you can find and complain about the price? Maybe you should have bought a perfect Chevy or Ram that cost twenty thousand less and has a perfect body with onlyathird of the abilities of the Raptor. Then you could be disapointed that you don’t have anything to gripe about. Enjoy your ride man and if you feel strong enough about an issue you have with it then let Ford know. Beleave it or not Ford does care about what you think and seriously look at issues that matter. Give it a shot you might be supprised that they answer your concern. That’s one method of getting product improvements done. Really though, I don’t think you would be happy going to a Chevy or Ram. Remember, no other vehicle made is free of defects so choose what you want and make the best of it. Happy motoring my friends.

We do see this. We see that stripper 320i has excellent build quality. That excellent base becomes a justifiable foundation to build a $75k M3 on.

The disconnect with Ford is that they do not have this quality base, and it becomes difficult for people to accept paying $75k and discover rudimentary quality issues.

The real issue is that the Raptor and the GT350 should not be $70k vehicles. The true value doesn’t justify the cost.

Most $70k shoppers assume a level of quality performance and refinement for that price point. From what I have read on Raptor and GT350 forums... the lack of value for price point is the primary reason for many trades/resales. This is why you often see the out of place Raptor for sale on a German car lot.

I wouldn’t lower my standards enough to even look at a brand-b lot, and frankly it’s a toss up whether I’d rather have an m3 or prius park next to my Rap.
Yeah, I was thinking German engineering build quality when I had the total brake failure on Susten Pass courtesy of bavarian motor works.

I’ll take wavy door panels - allegedly - that I had the opportunity to gripe about when I bought the truck any day, because, frankly, every day since 2008 is a gift because if the excellent build quality of bmw had their way my wife and I would be dead.

People who deify Euro-vehicles have a different perspective and more power to them. I’m glad they’re out there overspending on vehicles engineered by people entirely too impressed with their own abilities.

Yeah, I’m kinda down on European vehicles and their so called ‘quality’.

Lol....and yet, there are no competitors to this truck at the price point.

The base F150 is a “quality starting point” - I hate to be cliche, but it’s the benchmark for 1/2 ton pickups. What you’re saying is only partially true- perceived value vs aesthetic quality vs intended purpose etc. you mention an M3- also a $70k vehicle. It’s a $70k vehicle that in direct comparison to a raptor (you brought it up not me)- makes less power from a similar motor, can carry fewer people, is made up of significantly less material - which whether you think it or not - all that steel AL CU wiring tires stainless exhaust etc adds up, has only 1 drive mode (rwd vs 4 for the raptor), doesn’t have a full size spare, cannot tow a damn thing, cannot haul a damn thing, doesn’t have a bed, you mention seeing “used raptors on German car lots”- well, we ALL KNOW the raptor holds value infinitely better than an M3 or pretty much ANY German car save some Porsche models maybe or E-class wagons or G wagons?

So strictly going down a punch list of general capabilities & amenities when specd out to the gills the Raptor CRUSHES the M3. The only thing the M3 holds over a Raptor in reality is it’s quicker around a race track & has better handling (rides like shit on public roads), & has possibly MAYBE more “perceived value & prestige”- however resale values would argue in the Raptors favor in that regard IMO.

If you’d like to be fair & compare an M3 against another sport sedan I think the Chevy SS (well when it was being produced) or a Charger SRT8 is one helluva better sport sedan in terms of all our performance relative to comfort & practicality. So there’s that.

Alternatively you could argue that a stripped down F150 w/ 2.7EB + 4x4 is a lot of vehicle in terms of general capabilities for the price. And while I see your point that the “mighty raptor” shares its bones w/ a basic workhorse- the upgrades to get it to where it is fully loaded are numerous & many are unique to the Raptor alone- the Raptors engine is of common displacement & has seen use in a number of vehicles across their lineup BUT has more in common w/ the Ford GTs than it does a base 3.5EB & the M3s engine is very similar- it’s a pumped up version of something you’ll find in an x5 or 5 series base too.....the Raptors transfer case is unique along w/ suspension diffs a-arms spindles & sports a stronger/more stiffened frame etc etc

From 100 yards away I couldn’t tell ya whether I was looking @ a BMW M3 or a base 320i, BUT you sure as shit know you’re looking @ a raptor vs. a standard truck from 100 yds‍♂️

Easy... take it down a notch.

I own a Raptor not an M3. Clearly I have made a decision on which I want to own right now.

My post is just to support others that have questioned the quality vs cost component of owning a Raptor. I did not say it was a POS... geez.
