Is there anybody else disgusted on how lumpy and wavy these door panels are, I mean Jesus 70k truck and they can't stamp the panel straight? When I point it out to my dealer they look at me like I'm speaking a foreign language, am I the only one that notices that it's a sack of potatoes?

this is unacceptable for a $70k truck

Guess I'm lucky I don't give a shit about these things and am still thrilled with my "$70k truck".
Can't speak for the other guys, but don't get me wrong. I'm mostly of the same opinion; I didn't buy the truck for its fit and finish. I'm busy adding pinstripes and haven't washed it for a few months now.

Are you guys talking about orange peel? If so, everyone car with paint has it. I've seen more than a few vehicles from luxury brands with equal or worse paint than my truck.

In fact, can't remember if it was an Audi or Mercedes that looked much worse.

Some colors it is harder to tell. My wife's trailblazer and my father in laws Silverado have peel, but it is hard to see because of the color.

Fun fact, this is one of the best ways to tell if a panel was repainted....only top notch painters can even hope to match peel between panels.

Not orange peel. Looks like the panel got a poor bondo job around (especially below) the door handle, but without the grinder marks. Or looks like it got popped in and back out at the door handle... if it were steel instead of Al.

Yeah, not orange peel at all. The skin of the door panels has bits that look 'sucked in' usually near the door handles as if someone would have applied a huge pushing force on it and almost dented the door all around the handle. Pretty much every current gen F-150 has this. Take a look down the side of a clean dark colored truck sometime, putting you eye right up next to the panel looking straight down the side of the truck from front to the rear. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. You could spend all day finding horrendous examples of fit and finish on any new domestic pickup truck. The expense is in the sheer bulk of the thing, the technology, the engine that is waaaaay more fuel efficient than anything from back in the day when they "built 'em to last" and the warranties. It is not in tight tolerances and precisely finished body panels. If you want obsessive attention to detail, buy something else.

Everyone complaining had the chance to look over truck before purchasing and can/could choose to buy or walk away.

Surely you aren't talking about the intentional design, right? The indention all the way around the handles is part of the OEM molding.

Now, if the indention lines aren't straight, then yeah, that'd be an issue. But I've had my door handle out - everything is straight and flush.

That said, if you are looking for things that aren't straight, take a look at the chrome bit on your interior door panels. Don't look too closely at the ebony/carbon fiber bit either, you'll see white machining marks.

No, it's the 1" area beyond the handle indent that is wavy- the metal on the main plane of the door skin. I've never seen an aluminum F150 without it. Stand back by the bed and look down the side. In the right light, you cannot miss it.

Generally it's about 5 or 6 high/low spots below and above the handle and a couple on each side. It's clearly a byproduct of stamping the aluminum door skin.
