The best part Ford was able to market in this video on Nat Geo is the keeping in tradition with the great Henry Ford assembly line and how its gone from 1 truck rolling off every 30 min (Model T era) to now an F150 rolling off every one (1) minute. Pretty good.

Also plenty of Raptors in the video if you watch. I actually saw my black tux just sitting on the yard outside waiting about 20-30 min into the video. hahaha. Wait it was an '11 sitting in the videlo...so not mine. :)

I was actually entertained and thought it was informative. I feel mostly better about the way the overall truck was built. Ever since my first Raptor test drive, Ive been sold on Ford suspension= one of top 3 reasons for buying raptor. One of the other main reasons was also pointed out in the early part of the video showing Fords no Govt bailout yet doing better than any Govt bailout auto maker. Despite Chrysler doing better than normal recently but that's a good thing for the USA so its cool. Competition is always GOOD!

However, the worst part of the video is this, as of Monday....I will have been waiting ONE hundred forty one thousand one hundred twenty (141,120) minutes for my Ford F150 Raptor that is built on the same line as others coming off every one (1) minute. And still counting for up to 3 more weeks. No excuse and Henry Ford would be turnig in his grave. Still no word back from my dealer which is twice as bad.

Anyone catch the part about the original raptor design was too wide to fit through the assembly line? Wish that wasn't the case... they could've been that much more agressive looking straight out of the factory.

Yeah, less than 1 inch left before redesign. I would love it to be wider than the hummer h-1

It was a great show. The technology is pretty amazing. Cool to see the truck being built from the frame up and seeing Raptors running in line with the rest of the F150s. Nice little 5 minute ending devoted just to the Raptor also. Thanks again to the OP for sending the heads-up, Great find!! :waytogo:

Most interesting fact during the show, at least to me it was, that they couldn't have really made the raptors any wider, because even less than 1" wider, and they wouldn't have been able to use the existing assembly line without major reengineering. Pretty nifty!

yeah that was what I found most interesting. They couldn't make the truck 1" wider than it is because it would have required major redesign of the assembly line. Very cool they were able to make it 7" wider as it is though on the same assembly line!

THe other thing I found interesting is the doors are installed for paint, then removed for assembly, then reinstalled later on. Maybe that's where the scratch on my door came from! lol

what amazes me is that they spend 1 minute or less per station. think about the center console or the airbox, and how many busted knuckles, scrapes and swearing it took to get it in/out.

one minute per station, and the trucks move by the workers at that constant pace. Ever been the airport and stood there and stared up close at the luggage conveyer - wooo seasick.

I've been the Ferrari factory and the Ducati factory to watch them build cars. Compared to Ford, it seems they kiss each part before it goes into the car. Interesting side note - most Ducati's are built by women. La Perla is the lingerie factory in the same city and about 10 years ago they had a massive layoff, right at the time Ducati went on a hiring spree. It was cool to watch my Ducati built by hot Italian girls.

I did enjoy the video and can't wait for my raptor.

I don't have cable, so I hope that I can find a rip of it online someplace.
