Its been on dipyourcar which is plastidips forum. Most occurrences have been newer paint and actually a few Nissans. Not to say it can happen to other paints or ages of paints.

Ah, the black Plasti Dip bled into the white paint/clear coat...that's nothing a little white Plasti Dip can't fix :buffer: :smiley-face-popcorn

Good info thou. I did notice that it is recommended to use gunmetal gray Plasti Dip when painting over white...not sure if that's for adhering the new color to white or to help keep a darker color from bleeding into the base paint/clear...maybe helps with both.

I've heard of this for some time now. Mostly described as after market paints really being affected but som manufacturers paints too. Ive also heard that sometimes when you peel it off paint it will literally strip the clear coat right off and have it stuck to the dip.

Thirst are what I was explained as very rare cases but it can happen. I put it on a corvette as a bra for a trip too Florida and when it was peeled off after being on for 3 days I noticed lots of little specs like a paint overspray. I was able to get rid of them but now, 2 years later when it rains I can clearly see where the dip was almost like it was never waxed. When it's dry you can't notice anything but I haven't been able too get rid of it since, I won't use it on my truck though I love the idea of it.

This was clear dip..

Nissan notoriously has some of the thinnest clear coat out there but I have also seen damage done to a Subaru WRX (also a very thin clear brand).

Look at it on the bright side, that's one way to turn a White Raptor into a Terrain Raptor :waytogo:

Ive been toying with idea of using it on my bumpers, grill, and fender flares now. I love the look of it and actually just did some trim pieces on my motorcycle this weekend. But this was my exact fear and why I probably won't be doing it regardless of other people's good experience.

I doubt painting the fender flares and bumpers would be a concern. Left factory, eventually they'd most likely be the first to get scuffed, chipped, scratched, etc over normally off-roading or thru years of daily commutes. Besides, it doesn't really matter if Plasti Dip somehow effects the shade of those gray flares/bumpers, because we didn't like the gray to begin with, and therefor probably wouldn't be removing the Plasti Dip anyway.
