Vortex Mud Flaps *Update*- Field Test- SVTO Member tested

After a 500 mile work trip (aka: Field Test) yesterday which included a few hours off road I have concluded that the larger Vortex Mud Guard - 12" X 17"- is a better choice on all four corners

Top, river side of Mississippi River levee

Bottom, river side of levee

Debris* got between and past the flap and running board.

The larger flap diverted debris* to mostly protected areas.

* debris - 50/50 -Cow Pie/mud

Good write-up James, nice pics too.
I debated on getting the Vortex flaps but I ended up getting a set of Husky Liners Universal Flaps, haven't taken pics of them yet, but you'll see em' Saturday at the Bash.

Don't know how I missed your post Falcon, but I did. Answer to your question is yes. They did grow on me and whats strange is guys in other late model Fords have asked if those flaps are part of the Raptor Package? Believe it or not so I guess I have some people fooled. Hell after having to grand sons in the last year I guess I'll break out my J C Whitney catalog!:mrgreen:

Did the screws go into the metal / fiberglass portions of the fender? Where did you purchase them?

I am looking into these as the side of my truck are covered in road spray from the recent rain we have had. I am not really crazy about sticking my hand in the goop all over the door handle to get the door open...

Yes, the screws went into the fender lips. You just have to pay close attention where you put the screws. I strongly suggest mounting with some good double sided foam tape. It worked out well.

I picked mine up at Pep Boys. Sorry I didn't get back sooner, still tring to get settled after the move. Hope this helps.

IMO the double sided tape will let go long before the screws do so it's unnecessary. someone tell me why i am wrong.
