I was told by my dealer that it would take 4 weeks to get the VIN number and the another 4 weeks to delivery. I was wondering how long others were waiting for this info? and how long for delivery once you have the VIN/ overall wait time? and how many are currently in the waiting process with me?

I can't add any info to this thread but I do wonder where the production cycle is at. Are they still making 2010's and if so, for how much longer? When do they start the 2011 production run? These questions are all relevant to Talon's situation.

Him... unless this is a 2011, and not sure they are even being built yet, I cant see it taking 8 weeks for a 2010.

To my understanding Ford is in the process of winding down 2010 F-150 production to get ready for the 2011. The last 10 F-150 is suppose to roll off the line before they start the holiday shut down and the first 2011 after the first of the year. So wait time maybe longer then normal.

According to the most recent "official" release (Aug 18 2010, click here), Ford dealers should have stopped accepting 2010 F150 orders August 12th (with all orders due in from the dealerships Aug 19th). Orders submitted after that date will be MY 2011, with production kicking off Nov 16th.

Talon, if you submitted your order before Aug 12th, and assuming your dealership was up in the rotation, you are probably right on with the 4+4 estimate. If you submitted after Aug 12th, and or your dealer was NOT up in the rotation... well I think you're dealer may have misinformed you.

What's this "rotation" business? You may have ordered from the dealership, but are you sure the dealership has ordered from Ford? They're two different things.

I ordered too, but I worked thru a broker (not a dealership, directly). He spent a full two days contacting various dealerships before actually placing the order with one for a Raptor. When I asked why he did so, he explained that Ford, in particular, has a order-acceptance rotation. A dealership will accept your order any time of course; they want to make the sale. But what they don't tell you is when, exactly, they're next up in the rotation and can therefore submit your order to Ford. I guess the dealerships are grouped by Ford, and those groups are then presented a window of order opportunity by Ford, only during which orders are actually accepted by Ford. If the dealership isn't up, your order sits on their desk waiting till it is.

So what we did is search our state for a dealership who was currently 'up', and who was willing to give me one of their order slots (the number of accepted orders is also limited by Ford). Of the few we found that were willing, we price leveraged one against the other and ended up placing an order.

I was told that lead time from dealer submission of my order to Ford to truck delivery at that dealership was running at right around 6 weeks (back in Jan/Feb). Any time beyond that, and you know you ordered when your dealer was out of rotation. Any time less and you know you happened to order a truck that they already had incoming.

Hope all that helps. Don't get discouraged... this truck is more than worth the wait. And hell... you might wind up being one of the first 2011 Raptors around, and be one of the very first to show off that new display many of us have been drooling over :)

thanks for all the input! i actually placed my order on 8/3 and signed the order confirmation and placed my deposit so after reading your post, im not sure what the status of my order is and if they were able to place it with Ford in time or not. I just emailed my sales rep to see if they have a VIN yet but havent heard back. I hope it made it in time because i really want to do that barstow/primm run but if not then i guess i can be too mad about getting a 2011.

I was in my dealer on Thursday, AFAIK (yeah, I read it on the internet, my friends brother told me....) Ford has not released the 2011 Raptor order guide yet.

YMMV

I think Im one of the last person who got delivered from order.
Whole process took 8weeks since I paid my deposit.
I got Vin# way earlier than 4 weeks and delivery took more than 4 week, but location of you is very important for delivery duration.
I live in Socal, so it took looooooooong for delivery. Oh, you live in OC.... Same story.
Even the truck came in CA, and took like 2 weeks. You just need patience.
As I wrote on newbe section, once you get your VIN#, you can call 1-800-FORD-SVT to ask location of your Raptor.
I think that is the best way.

So i called my dealer and my sales rep said that the order was placed with Ford on Aug 3rd but there was some sort of delay with Ford picking it up and now im looking up to another 2 weeks before i even get the VIN, so 6 weeks just to get the VIN. Maybe i will just start ordering some parts for it so and fun stuff for it so its all here by the time to truck gets here.......nothing wrong with that right?
