Looks like both of the solenoids are leaking, believe these are the VCT. Easy job, or use my extended warranty? Problem is I have to wait for it to leak some more since I just cleaned it up. IMG_9378.jpegIMG_9377.jpeg

Those type of seals will always seep a small amount of oil. It typical to have a film of oil mist on the valve cover. They only need to be serviced if they’re leaking to the point of dripping oil.

As always appreciate your professional opinion. I’ll wipe up and monitor. What brought by attention was doing an oil change and doing a routine look for leaks. Was able to see dirty oil wet spot just under the AC compressor that I traced up to the solenoids.

So if it’s just the seals leaking I’ve seen several videos showing the valve covers do not have to be removed to replace just the seals. Do you agree with that method or do you say 100% remove valve covers and replace?

The valve covers need to be removed because the solenoid connectors will prevent proper seal installation.

Crazy thing. It doesn't matter, main bearing went , so the trucks at ford waiting for them to tear it down and get the warranty to pay for the new engine , I got 2 weeks of driving, 800 miles maybe, and ****. Dealership is going to buy it back from me, they are looking for another raptor but I may just let them pay that one off, and go find another. This was bought at a major dealership. No way to know that this was gonna happen. But the auto start stop was turned off. It turned itself back on at the red light, I was confused as to why but I let odd the brake and when I did it started like it should buy immediately I hear a knock. I pull into the parking lot literally 50ft from the red light maybe a little more and shut it off. Checked oil. No issue , oil looks new still and was full. No check engine light or anything, tow truck came, one of my buds was the tow truck driver, he agreed that it's a main bearing and rod possibly about to go, been at ford since 22 Feb , just waiting for them to get this figured out. Is it possible low oil pressure on auto start stop could've caused the issue?

FordApologistOne is on the scene of another blown Ford engine!

Let's see how he apolgizes for Ford this time....
You’re a joke. Find something better to do with your life than troll forums.

Every single engine failure we’ve seen shows bearing wear and top end damage from lack of maintenance or running it low on oil. But you keep playing technician behind your keyboard.

Well i wasn't the original owner so I cant speak on the service history totally, but the oasis report showed a good bit and so did ford pass, what was weird was the stop start engine just turning itself back on, let off the brake, truck cranks, I hear knocking sound, ive read that on the auto start stop it may have been a low oil issue on startup but idk since it was running for over 30 mins with no issues, the oil looked brand new and was to the fill line. But here is what ford told me yesterday

so they will send out an adjuster out. more than likely by friday to confirm what we said it needed ( the engine ) due to rod bearing broke . this is normal procedure for service contracts to do . and from there i will update you !

The main bearing going isn't anything the dealership that sold it to me could see being an issue, but I only have put 800 miles on the truck, they're going to buy it back and are looking for another raptor now.
