K223, I was thinking the 5.0 with more power, maybe 480hp and some decent torque. Than the 3.5 Power boost, 5.2. That 5.0 would cover the people who want a V-8, but do not want the 5.2.

True, however Raptor folks would want a lot more power than 480 at this point. And that’s only 30 more than the current 3.5 H.O. and the 5.0 would never produce the same torque curve or let alone peak torque. While that’s a fine suggestion, it really only net’s you 8 slugs in 8 holes. Far from the power needed and wanted today.

One thought on this is what do the power/torque curves look like on the GT versus the raptor or other F-150 ecoboosts.

Did they have to sacrifice some lower end torque to achieve a higher horsepower number?

The GT is the same block, but has bigger turbos and dry sump oil among other things. Max torque near 6000 RPM vs. 3000 RPM in Raptor. GT has pretty flat torque curve once they spool up, similar to the Raptor.

K223, I love my 17 Raptor and want more from this engine. I'm just suggesting the 5.0 would be a starting point for a first time Raptor owner maybe coming from a lesser ford product. If I was coming from a plain 5.0 F150 Fx4 up to a more powerful 5.0 Raptor at a decent price that can certainly be cool. The 5.0 cheaper Raptor will never happen, just trying to cover all bases. I will be keeping my 17 for some time regardless. Paying the house off first. Which is no fun.
