Unidentified part on frame

Hi all!

Could you please help me identifying this part? I was under the truck the other day and was surprised to see it. it's a rectangular shaped "brick" on top of the frame, below the bed. it's wobbling freely, but is fixed to the frame of the truck.

Car/Truck manufacturers bolt these to chassis on some vehicles to cancel out some vibration or harmonics as far as I know.

Thank you! First time I've seen it. I was surprised. As it is free to move it makes a distinct sound, but I can't really hear it at all while driving.

As the mounts get old and wear out the harmonic dampener just becomes more of a rattle maker than anything else.

are you nuts? that weight is what levels out the truck when you are airborn. you need it to create lift. havent you studied fluid dynamics and air flow? jeez ya rookie
