Hopefully I don't get flamed on this... I did "search" but couldn't find an answer.

I go into the dash panel control and verify that there is no "trailer" installed, seemingly ensuring no "sway control". I also turn off the "traction control" with the dash switch.

However, during very spirited driving while on dirt washboard road, I often get the flashing "Sway control" on the dash panel AND the power to the truck gets momentarily cut off. This becomes a major problem when I am sideways around a sharp corner, sliding out and jamming on the gas so that I can "pull out" of the slide.

Yesterday, I also noticed while trying to "power Brake" (to smoke the tires - jam gas and light brake pressure), the engine management momentarily cuts power.

How can I over-ride the computer -- trying to drive my truck?

TIA

this topic was bought up a few years ago but here's what to do. Make sure you are in off-road mode first, then hold the traction control button for minimum ten secs or until you see traction control icon flash, keep the truck in 1st and 2nd gear only.

play safe!

You have three modes for both regular and off-road: Normal (all nannies), traction control reduced (one push of traction control button), and nannies mostly but not entirely off (press/hold traction control @10.000 till light flashes on dash).

The setting does not survive a switch from on-road to off-road mode. Switch modes and you have to choose nanny-mode again.

It's all in the Raptor supplement manual. If you bought used and don't have manuals, try registering at owner.ford.com where you can find .pdf versions.

In the dash control system: Settings; Driver Assist; Trailer Sway Control; you may choose on or off. This setting stays until changed. Does not matter what mode you choose.

In off-road mode, trailer sway control isn’t on anyways so won’t matter. I could be wrong but think if you disable traction control by holding the button for 10secs, trailer control is turned off too.
