Tuning and cam phaser warranty

Since the cam phaser noise concern is a documented issue, there is zero reason for the dealer to suspect that it's a tune induced issue, or to spend their time looking for a tune.

The only time a tune is generally suspected is when the concern is outside of the norm for a factory failure. This includes things like uncommon/tune indicative DTCs setting, powertrain component failure, factory parameters outside of specification, etc.

Depends on dealer. I had mine tuned prior to cam phaser replacement. Took out the tune brought it to my dealer they listen to it ordered parts and fixed it no questions asked

This is the question I've been searching for the answer for: I still have an extended warranty on my 13 Raptor and am wondering if there's a way to uninstall my BDX tune before I have to bring it in for an exhaust rattle, or will Ford always know that it has been tuned?

Non issue, i just had it done. I didnt bother even removing the tune. It was fixed.

I doubt it’s covered. You’re essentially pushing the engine beyond its manufactured designed specs for reliability with a tune. Even if the phasers are known issue, there is an argument that you’re increasing its likelihood of failure.

im sure it will be covered if you return to stock tune for a couple weeks prior to bringing in (actually I’m sure it’ll be no issue if you return to stock tune on the ride over to the dealer) EVERY ford dealer knows EXACTLY what cam phaser failure is/sounds like it effects a number of engines across a number of platforms. They won’t “dig deeper” to see if you had tune- they’ll chalk it up to another common cam phaser “failure”

I am tuned. Have some cold start noise. Will bring it in eventually only haven’t yet b/c a) not that bad b) my understand no need to worry bout it unless reallly bad, & c) most ford techs are hacks

downpipes, ****, e50. Cam replaced with no hiccups.
