First, the article is bias and misleading. A tundra has not yet competed against a gen2 in any Baja 1000. It did compete against a Gen1 in the 2014 Tecate Baja 1000, Tundra won the class.(pic shown in this thread is the 2014 race) The Gen1 did not finish, only two out of 4 in that class finished (both are Toyota).
"STOCK FULL- Results (stock, full-sized trucks) 2014 Tecate Baja 1000
1. Andrew Bell, Long Beach, Calif./Jamie Bestwick, Point Matilda, Calif./Michael Sweers, Williamston, Mich./Ryan Millen, San Juan Capistrano, Calif. (New Zealand), Toyota Tundra, 35:40:40 (36:11 mph)
2. Marc Van Tassell, Ely, Nev./Kurt Williams, Sandy, Utah/Dave Connors, Draper, Utah, Toyota Land Cruiser, 36:30:07
(Starters: 4, Finishers: 2)"
Also, all vehicles are allowed certain mods in each class……
"SCORE’s Stock Full only allows for minimal modifications to ensure that the class is as close to stock as practicality allows, considering the brutality they will face. Entries must be based on the original frame, though larger tires and minimal suspension tweaks are approved modifications."
