As I recall, the TOYota that finished the Baja was a Land Cruiser, not stock and not a **** Pro. I also recall Greg hit a rock that required some in field welding, so there is luck that comes into play with these races as well.

A different line and he doesn't have that repair to make and perhaps even bests the TOYota.

Was this a CNN article and thus MORE FAKE NEWS?

Um, a Toyota Land Cruiser finished ahead of the Raptor and it was not nearly stock.

As I recall, the TOYota that finished the Baja was a Land Cruiser, not stock and not a **** Pro.

I neglected to catch this! And I had been following the Baja 1000 event until finish. So the article was concluded on a false premise. Definitely grounds for a retraction that throws off any credibility of the subject comparison. The author of the article is at best confused about Toyotas or at worst misleading.

My favorite "For example, I can easily imagine many consumers being confused when they have to shift into neutral to access 4×4 low like in the Rock Crawl mode"

Thats so confusing. What a dumb article.

TRD Pro package was fun, but not a Raptor....THEN they killed the rear locker, and tamed it down as other manufacturers ramp up capabilities. We bought an Inferno 2015 4 runner. Toyota got mad because dealers only ordered that color so stopped making them. Now they make that pooh color instead......SO when you think Ford is stupid....it can be worse.

The Raptor is definitely the most "stock" of the three. Here is a link to the #2 Land Cruiser and you'll see that the drivetrain is mostly stock but the suspension, brakes, and tires are very upgraded. The Ride – CANGURO RACING

Attached are pictures of the #1 Hummer and it also doesn't look very stock.

I don't get how you can compare vehicles without having driven both of them. I have, the TRD Pro and Raptor are in completely different classes in my opinion.

Here's my quick assessment:

Interior:

Raptor: 5/5 (high-end top to bottom quality, best seats on the market for me, high tech options available)
Tundra: 3/5 (disappointing for the money, good quality, infotainment is laughable)

Engine/Transmission/Performance/Mileage:

Raptor: 4.5/5 (13 second 1/4 mile, decent mileage, transmission tuning takes off half star)
Tundra: 3.5/5 (slow,no cylinder shutdown, lazy response, old transmission)

Suspension/Offroad:

Raptor: 5/5 (rides amazing onroad or off, locking diff, torsen front, offroad modes, cameras)
Tundra: 3.5/5 (lack of travel, barely different from stock Tundra which rides OK onroad, punishing offroad)

Value:

Raptor: 4/5 ( good value considering level of equipment, minus 1 star for limited nature driving some after dealer markups)
Tundra: 4/5 ( Toyota reliability for a good price)

Overall:

Raptor: 4.5/5
Tundra: 3.5/5
