I have a 2018 raptor for which I ordered the tuffy lockbox for under the rear seat. It was specifically the shorter one to accommodate the subwoofer.

It was problematic. Got it partway in only to realize they shorted me a bolt and nut. Ordered those off amazon for a couple bucks and went at it again. Got it ready to install only to now realize the slots cut into the lock box were incompatible with the spacing of the mounting brackets.

Fortunately I’m Dremel proficient so cutting a new slot in the right spot only took a couple minutes.

In the end it fit reasonably well but the collection of hassles on this product was disappointing. Seems their QC is not what it once was. Always been a fan of their stuff. Less so now.

Any pictures of the final install? Need to see if its worth the work.

Also your take on how the lock works? Is it secure enough that a gun could be stored there. My state, good old goofy laws Maryland, actualy bans a lock box in the console for gun storage. So this may be the ticket.

I just drilled holes in the little metal storage divider and bolted it up. The bolts that come with it are carridge bolts with oversized wing nuts that u put on the inside. That way they are locked up, but if it’s open, u can remove without tools. The bolts were too short so I bought some longer stainless bolts. I like the box being short so I still have a little room under the seat for a hard hat or something. I went to a foam place down the street and they custom cut me a gun case egg crate for like $10. I only have the foam on the bottom. I can throw an AR in there and a go bag no problem. Only down side is u can’t get the rubber floor mat out without taking out the box, but I’m ok with that...

Not my thread, but i’ll Answer. Locks are pretty decent. Takes a big long double sided key. The smart thing they did is in the design of the lip of the lid. It would be fairly difficult to get any kind of pry bar in there and get any leverage to pry the lid open. It’s not the thickest metal, but it’s not paper thin either. Criminals will always surprise you how clever they can be, so I’m sure with enough time, they could beat it. The most important thing it has going for it is you can’t see it...

I think I bought mine from 4wheel parts. They had free shipping but I had to pay texas sales tax. Direct from Tuffy had no tax for me, but the shipping was more than the tax. The list price was the same. It was almost a wash either way if I remember. It was +5 years ago I think...

I’m sure by now they have a more vehicle specific one that will prob mount up cleaner than my rigging job. On my old truck they had brackets where you unbolt the seltbelts in the floorboard, slide the bracket in, and bolt them back down. Pretty slick...
