The engine was designed and first used in a Lincoln passenger car and later a crossover. Like most 60 degree V6s.
Wrong. It was never designed for a passenger car, nor has is ever been used in a passenger car. In fact, the Gen 2 3.5 has never been used in a single transverse application.
And like I said, I have no bias. The first car I ever bought entirely myself had a DOHC V6.
Your posts show otherwise. You put preference before facts. Everyone's opinion is more than welcome...but don't present it as fact.
I don't care for the 3.5's lack of low end torque, boost lag, and low power ceiling. And yes, I don't particularly care for the noise it makes. But I could get over all that if they would sell one that has better power potential without being torn apart.
As you mentioned in the first part of this statement...you "don't care" for it. That is fine. But you continue to promulgate your bias stating a "lack of low end torque, boost lag, and low power ceiling". None of that is factual. Ford's own dyno graphs show that even the Gen 1 3.5 produced higher low end torque at lower RPM than the 6.2, more mid-range power, and more top end power. You get off on comparing factory stock Gen 2 Raptors with modified Gen 1s....that is not a level playing field.
I'm not here to defend the 6.2. I responded when I saw people posting fake news about sound being the only reason why V8s are used... you know... like virtually every major manufacturer does in their larger vehicles.
You're taking it too personally. Various engine types are used for thousands of reasons dependent on application. In the Gen 2 Raptor, the Ecoboost 3.5 was able to provide higher horsepower, better low end and higher peak torque, better fuel economy, similar weight. Why are you so offended by that?
