I agree with smurf for the majority.

I came from a 6.2s/c '15 LTZ/z71 with the only options exempted being the collision/lanecontrol nannies. In normal driving mode the power delivery will feel just as lethargic as the 6.2 did above the accelerator's false bottom(0-75% in the throttle commands 0-50% engine response). Sport mode will give better feedback in throttle response and engine pep. If you feel you it lacks power to make you feel at home - test out a Roush with the powerpac tuned in, or another SVM performance build. They should feel comparable to the stock 6.2 peak performance levels. I wouldn't be concerned by the v6, and if you are, there are a handful of dealers across the country which provide lifetime or extended warranties with their new car sales. The pricing you find will be similar regardless of region since Ford doesn't offer any incentives for the raptors; take the time to find a dealer that offers its own incentives such as the warranties as result to get the best bang for your buck. I flew to Florida to buy mine since no local dealers wanted to lower their price and the Florida shop included lifetime powertrain warranties on new vehicle sales. Yes the lifetime warranty would extend to Roush/Shelby/etc modified trucks as well. If you plan to keep the vehicle for a while and care for it[I'm assuming you do based on having your denali for that length and reliability questions] the couple hundred extra for the travel would likely be your best course of action and pay off with a good warranty.

Pros:
-801
+[add]4.10 front
+[add]spray-in bedliner
+[add]box lighting
+[add]360 camera
+exclude frivolous options you don't care for or want to spend money on
-802
+essentially comes with everything you'd expect coming from a Denali
+some options only available in 802(ie: recaro seats, rear heated seats)

Cons:
-801
+no dualzone clim-control
+no autodim/etc side mirrors
-802
+comes with options you may not care to pay for(ie: collision/lanecontrol nannies, rear airbag
seatbelts[SCrew only I believe])

Depending on your personal taste:
-engine block heater(minimal extra cost, no downside)
-remote start(optional on 801)
-moonroof(may increase rattles & cabin temps - both can be addressed - threads in forums)
-Raptor Graphics Packages
+if you don't want to pay the ~$1000 for the vinyl stickers, may have to custom order a truck,
which dealers probably won't do under msrp - so it may not be worth it unless you can slash
an additional 4-5k off in options

Welcome to FRF, and sorry to hear of your stolen truck.

I bought in ’17, so the market is much better now. Recently we’ve seen users post up as much as 6 or 7 thousand off MSRP(?) This is very much a regional game, and urban and suburban dealers are still trying to nick customers for over MSRP on Raptors. You should be able to use a buying service now and obtain a reasonable deal if you’re not a great negotiator. Worst case, use the internet. Plenty of people here have done the fly / buy / drive home with success.

Must haves are subjective. Almost all of the bells and whistles provide some tangible benefit. The top tier 802a package is really nice, but it’s not necessary. I have the 802a and like it. personally, I think the graphics, carbon fiber, and moon roof are expensive for what you get. Tailgate step - relatively inexpensive, but very useful if you actually haul any cargo.

If you find a Rap without a twin panel moonroof, seriously consider it. They’re as rare as hen’s teeth, but they do exist. The moonroof is a troublesome option that requires some additional maintenance and care, and even then, the opening mechanism is very fragile, prone to breakage and is expensive and difficult to repair. “difficult” meaning for end users, not so much once you’ve had to do it a few times or for pros.

360 camera is awesome, adaptive cruise also very useful in some cases.

The ecoboost has been great for me, and lots of other folks. (Test) drive it (like you stole it) then make up your mind. I think there’s some places you could ... let’s say... more thoroughly ... test drive a Raptor around San Antonio. ;-)

I was just down there, but sadly, in a peasant rental car.

I really appreciate you taking the time and providing so much detail. You make some good points that I will use for sure!

Maxwell Ford in Austin, has a new white 2019 for $9k off sticker.
Automax in Killeen has 2020's listed for +/- $6k off sticker. I would use them as a last resort. I had a horrible buying experience there in 2018, but they ended up giving me the best deal in the area.

Good to know. I'll look into them.

sounds like the trail boss is probably right for you, it has that v8 sound you need. Youll never be happy with the v6.

Trail boss is actually last on the list but we'll see.

Sounds like someone needs a timeout. Good luck to the OP.

Thanks!

Thanks for your input and suggestions. I do tend to keep truck for a while, at least 5 years if not longer. Do you mind sharing the dealer contact you worked with in Florida?

pm sent

edit: Not to keep this a secret from others looking for a truck; just leery about recommending dealers/shops since sometimes it goes against forum policies and I'm relatively new to this one - I used Elder Ford of Tampa.
I'd recommend you speak with Kitt over anyone else. He was a great contact asset to have in my deal and if he's not personally running your sale - he'll take the time & care to make sure whoever is will get back to you if you're waiting on them for anything. As with most dealers, some of their employees' need him to light a fire under them to get things done.

Hold up homey. that was @xrocket21’s contribution, not mine. I never mentioned the trail boss.

@dirtyboot for the win. pretty comprehensive break down of the Raptor options.

Good luck!

What ever you do, don’t buy that chevy. You’ll hate yourself when you realize you’ve bought such an ugly truck. At least the GMC is good looking and can be had with that pretty kick ass tailgate.

But,,,,,, RAAAAAAAAPPPPPPTTTTOOOOOOOOOR! You KNOW you WANT it! ;)
