I would be more concerned about being in San Antonio than what engine to get.

This is not the first report of high end trucks being stolen around there. I don’t have the post on hand but there was someone who posted about picking up their Raptor and having it stolen at a hotel stop on the way home in SA if I recall correctly.

LoJack too old school? Do you even want it back if it gets stolen? Would be sad to get a Raptor and have that stolen too.

I remember reading that post as well. It for sure is concerning for anyone with a new vehicle. Unfortunately the closer you are to a military base (Air Force Vet Here) the worse the surrounding area is.

Thanks everyone for your responses and thoughts. Quick update, my truck still hasn't been found and I just come back from a local Ford Dealer where they had about 14 Raptors (mostly 19s.) I got to test drive a black one and it drove great. The exhaust note bother me, maybe I need time to get used to it. I think that is the only negative I can say about the truck. The dealer will not budge on MSRP for the 20s and only a few grand off for the 19s. I went just to look and gather info. There is a salesman in Fredericksburg TX that I have talked to and has confirmed he can do a 2020 at invoice.

I would get the Freddy dealer to give you a sales quote sheet. Unfortunately here in SA, the local dealers are not great to deal with.
If you plan to actually run your truck off-road, keep me posted, I built a truck track at Cycle Ranch in Floresville. Looks like a group is heading out there on the 29th

ALSO: If you do want to play...dont get black, trust me...lol

Love GM trucks overall especially with that sweet 6.2L engine. I traded a loaded ‘18 Sierra SLT Z71 6.2 in for a new ‘19 loaded Raptor. Besides the engine sound, the Raptor is definitely a better truck overall. Had mine now 7 months and just rolled 10k miles. It’s awesome.

Wish GM had a true competitor to the Raptor because I am more of a GM person (I have a C6 ZR1 too), but they just don’t. Good trucks, but none of their truck line can compete heads-up with a Raptor.

Get a Raptor, you won’t be disappointed.

That is pretty far off base. Besides, what does the air force know about ****** towns surrounding a base? go look outside marine bases, now those are some shitholes.

San antonio is so far from the average town "outside a military base" it's not funny.

this isn't compton.

7th largest city in the US. And it's in texas.

super hard to believe that a choice of thieves is a truck!!

Having said that, don't know anyone or even heard of anyone having a vehicle stolen here.

You mean Like Camp Pendleton lol. I do agree Marine bases are in some pretty bad areas as well. Air Force bases are nice in regards to the base but the surrounding areas are 90% shitholes. only ones worse in my opinion is Army bases.

I had several friends that had their newer vehicles jacked when they were stationed at Lackland/Kelly AFB (San Antonio).

Not saying that's the only reason but it does happen.

Yes. I mean pendleton and lejeune.

San antonio is a very big city. at least 45 minutes to drive from one end to the other.

short lesson. EVERY city has ****** parts. stay away from the south side of san antonio, ****** as hell (and where lackland is se). not hard to do. I've been here 15 years and never go down there.

san antonio is very pro military without the drawbacks of typical outside military base towns which is super small and the only places to go are walmart, tattoo shops and ***** bars.

Though I miss the driftwood outside lejeune.....

back to the subject. **** this town for buying trucks. check out brandon ford in tampa
https://www.brandonford.com/

Bottom line. ANY 65k+ vehicle is a target. Don't want to be a target, drive an 87 iroc z

Sorry to hear. That truck is probably south of the border now. SA has a lot of auto thefts and why I never venture into it.

But in TX most stolen vehicle is Ford pick-up
