In CA the Dealer takes care of all of that. They won't register it until the truck is there, you fill out the paperwork and you legally become the owner. From there they give you a DMV temporary to place in your windshield. The temporary is valid until your plates and registration arrive in the mail. You do not physically have to go to DMV.

How did you get fastracked through the system? My order date is 11 days after yours and I don't have a VIN or build date.
Sorry I should have specified my dealer is out of state and shipping by train to a receiving dealer here. My dealer doesn't know if he can register my vehicle for me from out of State so he has said I may have to take it to the DMV. I may try to figure it out for him - any tips?
