With a Gen2 just let the truck sit without a trickle charger. I’ve done this for up to five or six months with no issues. Also don’t do any remote starts during your absence. The truck will enter “deep sleep” mode which uses minimal amps. It’ll be fine.

if you are that worried about it, and will be gone that long...just disco the battery and let it sit.

Personally. i would do nothing. If I have to jump it when i return...no big deal. Even if I have to replace a battery after 6 months....no big deal.....i would not want to trust the circuits in a cheap trickle charger to not over charge my battery and explode while i am gone.

I’ve never had that issue with charger connected. I leave the hood open every time. Maybe try closing the hood and locking the truck with the charger connected?

I use a Deltran 2 amp Batter Tender, that I plug into my truck when not driving it for long periods, and have no issues. I have a pigtail hard wired to the battery and it is zip tried right inside my driver's side inner fender. I just reach in the wheel well to plug it in and don't have to open the hood.

Odd thing is I used the same C-tech charger (the best you get in Europe) for 3 weeks in August with no issues. This problem started now.In any case I have now left having disconnected it and will post a feedback in 3 months weather the battery is still holding charge, if I need to jump it or change it.
