HAhahaaaa.
O.K. all,
This is NOT a tire thread but a tire question about cost verses type verses use for the $$$$$.
We have been buying tires for the shop truck at discount tire for the last 3 sets of tires. A little history of tire wear is in order.
Stock OEM tires on the HD2500 3/4 ton LOG WAGON pickup. May have been Bridgestones? I got 14,000 miles and they were toast. 80 psi rear /55 psi front.
Next set was Yokahoma HD street tire of some sort. Paid basically $850 installed and got 17,000 miles. These had a 60 K tread wear warranty. So replaced with BFG's at a pro rated cost of $250.00 and these had a 50 k tread wear warranty.
Last week theBFG's were replaced again with about 20,000 miles on them. Paid about $350 with valve stem kits and free rotation and free balance for life.
So the real question pertaining to ME and the RAPTOR is, I will have / get about 20 K before my tires will be at a point that I will want new ones. BFG is THE ONLY tire I have found with a TREAD WEAR WARRANTY. 50 K . for 95 % of my driving these tires work good. I love the look of the wranglers, Kumho's, Toyos and even a few off brands but NONE have a tread wear warranty other thn BFG.
Its gonna be about $1200 for a set of whatevers by the time I find the deal at one place or another. This includes the BFG's. If I continue to only get 20K from a set of tires, this is about normal for me over the life of ALL my trucks, would you go with the BFG's which would most likely be replaced every 20,000 miles for a cost of about $500 verses another $1200 every year and a half?
The BFG's do have a 3 ply side wall and work well sept in heavy water for me and my general use and they hold good on dry corners when ya cook it off into a corner hard. Please be kind! AHhahaaaaaaaaaa.Remeber I am a CHEAP BASTARD!
