Yesterday my truck (2018) had a transmission issue and my check engine light came on immediately. I was riding shotgun and my son backed out of our driveway fine, he put it in drive and the transmission started slipping. I hopped into the driver’s seat and backed it into the driveway.

My Ford app said “The transmission control module has detected an electrical fault or had excessive electrical noise with one of the sensors” and to schedule service. I do have an OBD scanner and it said Generic P0721 Output shaft speed sensor circuit Range/Performance.

Obviously, I’m going to take it to the dealer and probably have it towed. I’m just wondering if anybody else has had the same issue and what the dealer did to properly fix it. I did buy the extended Ford ESP through Flood, but I want to make they properly fix it.

I did have the dealer change the tranny fluid less than a thousand miles ago, and I hope it isn’t related to them not performing the service properly.

I would appreciate any advice in getting this resolved as well as dealing with a claim through my Flood Ford extended service plan.

Zoinks! That’s probably not a coincidence.
if you’re not sporting heavy powertrain mods, you should be covered.

Now, I haven't had this issue but isn't the Output Shaft Sensor outside of the transmission?
If that'd the case, wonder if it got loose when trying to fill up the transmission?

I’m not going to drive it right now, but I’ll probably wait until Monday before I have it towed to the dealer. I just want to get an idea of what might cause this in order to make sure it is properly repaired. If they goofed up the tranny fluid change, I don’t want a bandaid fix that will bite me down the road.

I just put in an order for a small travel trailer (Casita) and definitely don’t want to have any roadside problems while towing. I'm suppused to pick it up in about five weeks, and am looking forward to doing a little camping.
