This morning I was on the highway going about 75-80 when a violent shaking started to occur. Naturally I slowed down, shaking didn't get worse or better. So I kept decelerating until I came to a stop in the breakdown lane. Got out of the truck crawled underneath and my driveshaft was on the ground and tranny fluid leaking towards the front and middle of the transmission. So I waited for a tow. Got to the dealer and once it was off the bed crawled underneath it to find the case cracked all the way from top to bottom.

Honestly don't know what to think of this. My dealer quoted me $9,124 and there is not one shot I am paying that. My truck has just about 90k miles. I have found a tranny close to me out of a 12 for $2250 and I have the know how to do this myself and most likely will have to go that route. I have already reached out to Crystal on here and hope she comes through as she did last time getting my $2000 rear axle repair to $600.

I love this truck and have no issues besides the one stated above in the 1 year of ownership and 36,000 miles but I can't believe that this could happen just like that. Unreal. I feel like repairing and jumping ship almost. Any thoughts?

Personal opinion:

Option 1) get the used tranny and install it yourself if you can, then sell it ASAP and buy something new to you (with a warranty).

Option 2) Get the used tranny and have it professionally serviced/rebuilt and installed and keep the truck.

T_J was thinking something along those lines as well. The used one I would get I would go through either way. Came out of a 16,000 mile Raptor. Would love to buy a newer one for sure as well. And yes $9k.

They threw in a muffler as well because it's dented from the driveshaft but I could care less about that.

$9k for a transmission is insane. Did they give you the estimate in writing? I'd love to see what the breakdown is.

Yes. $3xxx for a Reman'd tranny. $1400 for the bell housing. $425 for the driveshaft. $975 for a muffler (HA). Then random oil, seals, and blots making the parts total $67xx and the rest labor.

Ya, and when he gave me the quote he said "not to bad" and I laughed.

Also when I get back home I'll give a breakdown for you guys for a more exact figure.
