Transmission crossmember repair question.

Hi, So about a year ago I took a hard digger in the truck and smashed my transmission crossmember.

I was wondering two things,

1. Has anyone used the KHC repair kit?
They do not fit at all. On my truck, the frame mount extends out to the outboard of the frame, looks like the KHC mount stops short.

2. I cannot find a new cross member online anyone know a good vendor for that?

Not sure mine looks like yours 2014 of corse not bent. I would think sone heat a well placed bottle jack and a BFH you could get it bent back close to original. for me It would be worth a shot all you could do id fail you are not going to make it worse. JMO

Yeah after studying the KHC website pictures it looks like the cut away a large portion of the oem structure. I'm not sure I'll install the reinforcement brackets and do something else.

That's on me for not fully understanding the installation process here.

Dose the inside structure look bent also? The part that they left and didn't cut away. Your cross member looks a little beat up. I think you could Fix that for sure. with a little heat an a BFH. I would get it out of the truck and on the bench little heat and some beating it would be good as new. BUT I am just looking at pics.

The inside of the section on my truck is actually fairly square still, most of the damage is the outer section.

If I cut the center bridge out to install the KHC kit it will be really easy to square up... makes sense now.

The crossmember is fixable. But usually they are cheap and easy to get, for some reason I'm not having luck. So maybe BFH* it is.

Moving forward with this, got some parts cut out, one is a crossmember strength overlay in 3/16 mild, and also I had two 1/2" thick "deflectors" for the leading edge of the KHC repair pieces.

Got cross bar "fixed"

Tried to smash it with a hammer, then used my press but ended up just cutting out the damaged section and putting in a patch.

I need to finish up in the rear before I can move the truck in to welding range do do the bracket repair.

good, you got experience now. mine next. where in ca are you? i will drop off my truck..... i bent mine i think more than yours. been that way for years. was going to just replace it, but hey, i will pay for the metal to fix mine. free labor of course right?

Yeah mine has been bent like this for a year. It would be nice if they sold the crossmember but Seems hard to find on on the oem supplier websites.
