I haul a trailer almost every day, generally with a 3/4 or 1 ton delivering tractors. I can back a trailer pretty much anywhere. I often joke that I can back a trailer down your hallway and into your bathroom. That being said, my short trailer is a dump trailer about 18' overall length, then a 26' bumper pull tilt, then a 32' deck goose. They are easy to see and quite a lot easier to back than a little short low jet ski trailer. If you quit paying attention for just a moment with a little trailer you are jackknifed. And if you can't see it you are doomed. So I support the OP in his quest to use the technology that is on the truck. Nothing unmanly about that, it could be really handy for certain trailers and in certain situations. I generally don't tow with my Raptor, but if I decide to do so I might just setup the decals and mess with the trailer assist deal just for grins.

So, just to be a dork and disagree with everyone.... I did not like the assist on my last Gen2 Raptor. It just didn't seem to work well. I have now gone back to a "real" raptor ,Gen1, (with no assist), and do just fine large and small trailers... because....

My wife, who is not a motor head at all, had a horrible time with trailers, now has an uncanny ability to throw a trailer around our small farm into bizarrely tight spots at close to full throttle. She also does the same with the tiny trailers behind the raptor. She figured out how to do it with a pair of those little tennis balls on a magnetic stick that she could stick on the trailer so she could see it in the mirrors, and then practiced her ass off here on the farm with the tractors and pickups and trucks and anything else she could put a trailer on. I now make money betting on her abilities when we meet new people. ie..."good God man! what you doing with trailer!? My ole lady does better than that... lemme go get my old lady to put that xxxxxx in there for you..." Our friends just won't take bets anymore, but folks that don't know we farm are fair game.

The point is, the tennis balls are great for practice, and if the trailer is too small to see, the balls reach out where can you see the trailer.... Harbor Freight sells them for next to nothing...

Additionally, the stickers are pretty cheap, (like $10-15) bucks on Ebay, and if you mount them on reefer magnet sheeting you can move them to multiple trailers... the size does not seem critical at all. 2"x5" or so seems the norm, but we have one friend that has a little tiny thing about 1"x 3" and it apparently works fine for him....

There are plenty of stickers on eBay for $15. Like here - https://www.ebay.com/itm/133352470034

I somewhat agree with wheelman - you should continue to learn to back up a trailer the real way (can’t believe I just said that). Fords Trailer Backup Assist feature is really cool, but it will only “assist” you with the principals.

What kind of trailer do you have?

When I do tow, it's my family's 15' camper. But like I said, I do not tow it frequently enough to become a pro at it. I can do it, I've been doing it for about a year now. But I'd like to use the features the truck has.
