I routinely blast off of lights and I NEVER burn off my tires. I don't get it. Maybe my tires are more better than your tires. Maybe I apply my throttle in a more linear fashion because of my extensive driving techniques. Who knows.

I posted what the good book says. Have fun driving your trucks.

Me too, just not in rain on wet roads.

It could be useful to to turn on 4HI when you're stopped at the light and once it turns green you'll be able to peel off but since these electronic transfer cases allow you to change from 4wd to 2wd on the fly I don't see a problem. Just a suggestion if you're really concerned about this

The diesel-drag guys use 4-hi all the time at the strip, and I have never heard of front driveline failure. Lots of transmissions and the occasional engine, but not t-cases or front axles.

Stirring the pot but back to your NP203 i had a 75 powerwagon and the guy i sold it to grenaded it first pull at the mud run.... first failure for him in the driveline. Probably had something to do with the 440 in it. I can tell you I absolutely hated the 203 but loved the 205 in the 78-79 fords. Difference between chain and gear driven

I was always told never run 4 wheel on hard surfaces(asphalt,concrete) ? It's their truck, if they break it maybe the service tech will explain it for them.

As for traction (the original topic) front end is about 4000 lbs, rear of truck is about 2000 lbs. put some sand bags in bed of truck to put a little more weight on rear tires, take the lead plate out of your right shoe/boot/pink slipper and drive safely. Not rocket surgery

I am looking for some tires with better wet traction. That plus tubesand (or the 4 old tires, in the bed!) should improve things.

That's odd, because a '203 is usually very hard to break, even though it uses a chain drive for the front. And especially in mud, where you don't have lots of traction. I think many of these 'cases were ruined by people filling them up with 80W90 gear lube, when SAE 30 engine oil is what New Process actually specified. (The old Q-track required a proprietary lube oil.)

That would certainly work, if I were street-racing in the rain. What I am talking about happens in normal rain driving, and I want a solution that doesn't require all that manual intervention.

Yeah had a J10 77' but it wasn't the Q-track
