Me too. I thought a "reply" would be placed with the post it pertained to. So I was supposed to use quote?
Like how I quoted two people here, you gotta hit the "Multi" button and then hit the reply button in the bottom corner of the page when you're ready to type. If you're just quoting one person, just hit "quote" and it will take you there automatically.
Swoop, nice job man. You've convinced us all!
Yeah, so easily said!

Yes... Hit the Quote button then post BELOW the quote and not in the enclosed quote brackets.
You can even do multi...hit the multi button for every quote you want to responde to and then click the post reply to respond to each quote you clicked.
Respond just below each quote.

Should I start another argument swoop...lol
LSU was talking about using it on WET roads I believe which in all your statements you indicated DRY ROAD CONDITIONS.
I have and still do use 4x4 when it is pooring out and the roads are slick as shit.
NOW, I only use it when I'm at a light or stop and I see I need to merge quick so I will engage just before I come to a complete stop.
Once I start moving I dis-engage right away.
The only reason I do this is because right now my tires are getting bald but if I had new tires NO WAY would I engage it.

Just saying...

The manual states that it should be used in ICY, SNOWY or OFF-ROAD conditions. Rain? Well, frozen rain is ice...but shit if you need 4x4 to drive in RAIN, you need help.

I love you all on here and frankly, I don't give a SHIT what you do to your trucks, but this is the reason I'll hardly ever buy used vehicles. Sometimes, you just don't know what you're getting.

Does rain qualify for dry pavement? Well, no, because it's wet. Does wet pavement qualify for off-road, ice or snow? No. ****, let's sue Ford!

Hahahaaa There are the odd times I WILL do this but 99.9% of the time NO WAY.
Not trying to argue because I agree with you but there is the odd time that calls for it.

Exactly. If you can spin the shit out of your tires, then in my opinion you don't have enough traction to be concerned about ******* up anything in 4wd.

Hell, I've used it twice even on new tires when I needed to get a jump from a redlight. The furthest I had to turn the wheel was just enough to change lanes. I don't think anyone suggested putting it in 4wd cranking the wheel to lock and doing donuts.

You normally don't need 4x4 in rain, unless you have a very overpowered truck that is light in the rear, like a Raptor. TCS will probably insulate Ford from any liability suits (been a lawyer for many years), but the better practice would have been a selectable part-/full-time 4x4 system with low-range (i.e., not AWD), like Jeep's Select-Trac (still used on the Liberty, but debuted in the Cherokee/Wagoneer in the 80s).

I routinely blast off of lights and I NEVER burn off my tires. I don't get it. Maybe my tires are more better than your tires. Maybe I apply my throttle in a more linear fashion because of my extensive driving techniques. Who knows.

I posted what the good book says. Have fun driving your trucks.

The diesel-drag guys use 4-hi all the time at the strip, and I have never heard of front driveline failure. Lots of transmissions and the occasional engine, but not t-cases or front axles.
