So Kal
Swoop I feel your frustration..... I'm just totally speechless :ROFLJest:

I've said it before and will say it again "you can tell this is most peoples first 4x4" and this thread verifies the statement. HAHA I hope we get some more peoples understanding of the 4x4 concept :birgits_tiredcoffee PLZ

I was always told never run 4 wheel on hard surfaces(asphalt, concrete) ? It's their truck, if they break it maybe the service tech will explain it for them.

As for traction (the original topic) front end is about 4000 lbs, rear of truck is about 2000 lbs. put some sand bags in bed of truck to put a little more weight on rear tires, take the lead plate out of your right shoe/boot/pink slipper and drive safely. Not rocket surgery

Here here, I found a picture!

I'm not (and I don't believe that anyone else is, either) being an Internet Tough Guy. Shit, I just want to make sure that the RIGHT information is put out there!

OK, so I just took the liberty to take my happy ass out to the garage of my beautiful home that houses the beast called the Raptor, and grabbed my FACTORY OWNERS GUIDE for the 2011 Ford F-150.

Went to the back glossary and looked up "Four Wheel Drive". Check, page 306. Got it, page ******* 306 I go.

HOLY JESUS, the FIRST ******* SENTENCE ON THE PAGE READS:

Ford Owners Manual; page 306 said:
Four-wheel drive (4WD) supplies power to all four wheels. 4WD should not be operated on dry pavement; driveline damage may occur.

If that's not ******* clear enough for you, on page 308 it states this under the heading, "4H (4x4 High)":

Ford Owners Manual; page 308 said:
Used for extra traction such as in snow or icy roads or in off-road situations. This mode is not intended for use on dry pavement.

Oh, what's that? Still not convinced?

Ford Owners Manual; page 309 said:
Note: 4x4 high mode is not intended for use on dry pavement.

...but what about 4L (4x4 Low-Range)? Book never said anything about not using that on dry pavement!

Ahh...but they do; page 310 young-grasshopper:

Ford Owners Manual; page 310 said:
4x4 low mode is not intended for use on dry pavement.

If you want to continue reading on about the All-Wheel-Drive system offered on the Harley Davidson trucks and how they can have all 4 wheels, powered, and on dry pavement, read pages 310 and beyond.

This post should get this topic locked. There is no further discussion to be had on this. :baby:
