A quick & dirty way to check for a head gasket leak at 6:10minutes in:

The coolant/fluid check is a new one for me. Never knew there was such a thing. Thanks for sharing.

Good luck with the truck and fix.
A nice, clean, Gen 1 in my area is a difficult find.
Anything with rockers and cab corners is already rare.
Even if you need a repair, sounds like the truck is clean and good looking.
A WAY better starting point/buy/purchase than most anything found around here.
I fully know and realize how it's just about impossible not to worry, jump to conclusions, and imagine worst case scenario with a purchase.
More dis-honest sellers than not now a days.
I have worried myself terribly (REAL bad) and even made a big @$$ of myself (I know...hard to believe) a few times thinking the worst and I may have been taken advantage of.
One way or another everything worked out.
Hopefully same for you.

I purchased a CHEAP winter beater a few months ago.
Seller nearly gave it away because it wasn't reliable enough to trust their young daughter to drive.
Told me horror stories of dealership's service department EXPENSIVE diagnosis and needed repairs.

I had hoped for something to just get me to spring.
It EATS oil and stains my driveway with soot too.
But seller was honest, transparent, and painted a worse picture than what I think I ended up with.

Not always the case, I know.
But hopefully an easy solution.
The fact that they acknowledge an issue, and say that they will make it right should be a good sign and lend some relief.
Imagine the seller perspective too.
I sold a boat one fall knowing it was in good condition.
Buyer called in the spring telling me I sold him a cracked block.
Knew right away he test drove it before winter storage, didn't winterize, and now blamed me. He was ANGRY !!!
In order to lessen my own frustration I offered to split cost of a used motor and he could get installed.
I did tell him that I knew what REALLY happened but offered what I did anyways.
He called back, admitted what he did, apologized and didn't even want the $$.
Your seller might also have thoughts of they don't know what happened when your truck left their hands.
Probably not the case, BUT...
You could have beat the living $hi+ outta a perfectly fine truck and caused the issue.
I realize it doesn't sound likely, but if I had something I knew was decent, then heard troubles, it has to be a possibility.
Again, they say that they will help, looks and sounds like you got an awesome Gen1 that I would probably be jealous of (I will probably trade :) ).
Hopefully best case scenario plays out, not worst.
Good luck.

Appreciate the response. The chemical test essentially tests for exhaust gases in the coolant system, if it detects it the blue chemical changes colors. in my case I didn’t even have time to beat on it and cause an issue as it occurred 4 hours after signing paperwork and driving it straight home.

Wishing you a speedy recovery from this royal PITA problem! Hopefully it was bad gas and nothing major, my fingers are crossed for you on this.

Interesting format. I think that may be the first Raptor poem on this forum.

His profile picture should be of the smoke when he starts the truck, until this is rectified.

All in agreement say Aye.

Hearing no objection, the motion carries.
Decided & so ordered.
