First off thank you to the other folks that have posted their own projects and the vendors such as Sounds Good Stereo, Soundsskins, and Nav TV. I watched countless videos and set a budget(which doubled) and then began ordering my equipment. My first suggestion is to spend the money on the quality prefab products out there like the block-off plates, custom speaker adaptors(vs the free Crutchfield specials), AMP rack, and pre-cut Sound Skins. You will get a better result and save time and aggravation. My goal was to keep everything looking stock where possible and no cuts of any kind for the factory wiring. Everything I did is reversible.

I enlisted the help of my cousin who does high-end home theatre and we borrowed a buddy's shop and spent 12 hours this past Saturday and another 10 hours on Sunday. I am very happy with the way it came out. The Focal K2's offer clear highs and the JL stealth box pounds for a single 10-inch sub(I was ok removing the storage box below the seat). When it came to tuning the JL VX800's DSP the software is pretty good although to get the most out of it a pro tune would be best. For now, we used an ARC mic along with my MacBook pro. We set the limits relatively low for now so I can break the drivers in.

Here are the list prices for the components I used. There was another couple of hundred bucks in miscellaneous parts. I started out thinking I would try to put something together for $3,500 or so and then wandered off to Focal Utopia 165W-XP's and Mosconis and Audison amps... I reeled it In and saved money on a few items like the JL components(My cousin got me 60% off for employee accommodations- which is not reflected in the above. ) while still building a solid setup. The Zen box is a must and off the bat $800. Folks can skimp on copper-clad aluminum, sound deadening, racks, caps... the list goes on.

I am pretty handy and do most of my own work around the house and mechanical on cars. I did DYYN audio on my 991 Turbo and their speakers sound excellent. It is a far cry though from the stuff Sounds Good and their high-end builds, Sky is the limit and they do really nice work. Check out the videos.

If you are taking on the project happy to give some pointers. If I were to have spent a little more I would have gone w the 3-way Focal K2's but that opened up a can or worms with the Sounds Good custom A-Pillars.
